Using Ubuntu/Fedora at home to connect to Unifi.
What are you planning to do?

By default the router is also broadcasting WiFi, just connecting through the WiFi and you're all set.

that what they said to me at first place, then i complain to them " don't you perform site visit first?" they told me they have no budget for that..lol.

They just look at the network infra in their blueprint which didn't mention that distance between the house that going to install unifi. Another thing bro what ever account you have register with Unifi previously they will not process it. They need to re register back and i don't know why especially the account name and also phone number smile.gif just a head up.

Hi guys I need urgent help. Is there a Unifi Ubuntu / Linux expert here? I cannot connect to UNIFI to my Ubuntu OS laptop. If anyone can help me configure please do call me 03-62611452 - I am near Damansara-Kepong area, willing to reimburse the person who help for his/her time

thanks!!

As kons said, just connect to the LAN port or WiFi, it's the same as any other network. What problems are you facing exactly?

If you want to connect your linux pc directly to the fiber box (ie using linux as a single PC/firewall/router/vlan tagging), look here:

1) no IPTV data is not counted....and once u reach the limit, the speed drops, but by how much we dont know..

2) does not matter...all packages now must buy channels instead..

4) depends on ur package, but i am not sure what other fees they have inside.

5) tak tau..some say got, some say dun have..

6) lower latency, possible upgrades to better speeds, higher upload rate on fiber..but compare packages, then yes..those are some of the differences..
mind revealing ur QoS settings?? i opted for an ATOM based clearOS...laugh.gif

i am using pfsense btw...

still waiting for my unifi but the box is ready and testing with my screamyx. so far even with 20000 (site+p2p) connection non of it drop during heavy p2p (testing website with like 100 thumbs each and 20+++ tabs).

as for QOS... not ready to deploy yet. but i plan to control it according to ip and port based. and every "registered" machine should have fair share when every one is rampaging the bandwidth. one of the idea to minimize ping with mmorpg is to reserve 5~10% of your bandwidth for spike handling and set the mmorpg server to high priority.

I think your setup is good.

Atom based DIY router using PFsense ?

Maybe if you post a guide other users can follow :}

Mine is using ESR-9850 router + Microtik Rb250GS vlan switch. The only downside to my setup is no bandwidth monitor unlike Broadcom based Tomato firmware routers. So using DU Meter on my PC won't be so accurate to manage my bandwidth usage, but it's better than nothing.

I'm using Biz5 package. No throttling. Using utorrent can download at 550kBps consistently ie forever.

Please lar, since you now have 5MB upload speed. Increase your upload speed to at least 2.5MB if you're not using that much upload bandwidth

Whenever i download on bakabt sometimes, i'm the only downloader. Everyone else is just seeding doh.gif

But yeah definately, whenever i can i upload, doesn't affect my games laugh.gif However i do recommend using peerblock for safety sake.
