QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 18 2010, 11:47 PM)
ok i've been doing testing today...and i have a real problem. the moment i activate GPS (Papago X5) and i EXIT the application.. thereafter my galaxy will NOT sleep.

here's what happened
1. used papago x5.. reach destination
2. exit papago x5 (using the EXIT button in the application)
3. went lepak, makan, notice battery weak, thought it was the GPS usage
4. charge the phone up to 95%, go home
5. journey home took an hour, battery drop to 81% (NO USAGE)
6. enter battery info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and notice Since last unplugged, Running (100%) 1hr 2m 55s, go to Settings -> About -> Battery Use > 1h 3m 12s since unplugged..

means since the moment i unplugged the phone till i got home, it never SLEPT.

nothing else was used, no games, no apps, NOTHING. my phone has OCLF installed, and its rooted. help. can anybody replicate this problem?
*
have u tried to reboot ur phone? ... any task running? check in the task manager ...

i read some one xda mentioning that papago x5 is the cause for the phone not getting into sleep mode, but thats for moto driod x ...

With  Froyo installed on it, the scrolling and laggy has improved but still loses out to Nexus/HD2 Froyo. WYou need to be a user of these phones to really see the difference.
*
but as mentioned, the froyo that r currently released for sgs are all still in BETA stages, not official firmware yet ... furthermore, u r not using the latest beta fw...
due to that, i think the phone will perform on par or maybe even better than the phones u mentioned ... anyway, try install the voodoo lagfix or if u wan fast One Click Lag Fix ...

basically the phone doesn't sleep.. you need to go in the testing menu *#*#4636#*#* to see it.

Thanks for the tip on the voodo lagfix - will try it. Even though the Froyo is beta , it is still better than the stock firmware and will keep it

voodoo doesn't work with Froyo yet.

I will suggest you to try maybe JM7 of Eclair, with voodoo fix.

Why Galaxy S lags because samsung use wrong filesystem, which result the I/O input very slow. Voodoo change the default RFS system to EXT4 which perform much better

With voodoo fix, it can match nexus with Froyo, trust me biggrin.gif

Yup, I received mine on 9th september. Using now already. I bought from the original Sgp via ebay USA.

I guess that is the risk for buying from outside shop, they can take out some stuff?

Hey man. I've been facing the same problem. Highlighted this since V3 thread... What I did? Just restart the phone and papago will no longer in the background...
No solid solution yet. If you have, please share...

Thanks for the reminder. Yes, it is only for v2.1. I have resolve my 3 button disability to boot into recovery. The solution is at :

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=785201

I did it before I flash the froyo firmware. Before that, I try to use adb boot recovery from terminal but process cannot complete while running odin ( serial comm error)

For the camera lenses protector, i bought the kimura sp for iphone, cut to fit the lenses, and stick it. Easy.

but in actual use, no difference.. both smooth.. voodoo also has the color fix..

I don't think it is OCLF or Voodoo. Previously I was on OCLF, after that change to Voodoo beta4. Papago still drains battery in the background even after you exit it. I think it is Papago software problem.. Anyhow, my papago is a trial version, full version i am not sure..
