well I've reseated the Xigmatek Red Scorpion, along with a fresh re-paste of AS5 on the Xigmatek only. 3 thin lines on each of the heat pipes. Temps are slightly lower. Tjunction reaches 75c max on core 0. cores 2-3 are usually 2-3c lower. Tjmax is 100c for the cores. Tcase, or cputin is 64c max (71.4c for Q9550).

WHat is the optimal/best way to apply TIM on the Xigmatek ? Some sites say to apply/fill up TIM on the 2 sections in between the 3 heat pipes. Need more opinions on this. Thanks.

I apply 3 thin lines on each of the heat pipes, like what you did. When I remove the HSF after some time, I do notice that they are spread evenly on the surface........

Corsair XMS2 DHX isnt bad but i suggest u get the Ballistix Tracer.
*
I would say get the normal ballistix and the tracer would produce quite amount and heat that would lead to rma later sweat.gif

i got a question regarding ocing.. i dun understand y i cant even pass streesing test when i oc.. im not doing heacy oc.. OCCT,prime..all fail me.. IBT sometimes can pass.. super PI pass.. does dat mean my machine is not stable?? i just newly bought for 1months++ only.. lol

my specs, hope sifus will help..

C2D E7300 cooled by Deepcool ice balde pro, Gigabyte ep43 mobo, zotac 9600gt, 2x2gb kingston hyper X 1066mhz, cm extreme power 460watts, 80GB pata HDD (very old Hdd)

my settings are 7.5 x 400 = 3.0mhz,ram freq=533. dramcpu ratio 3:4
pcie=100mhz
vcore=1.3000v
vdimm=1.9v

i suspect is either my hdd fail me for being too old or my psu not enuff to stablise my pc.. i hope to get an answer so im not lost

Added on February 13, 2009, 3:17 amand i google around to found out gigabyte p43/45 mobo having an issue regarding ocing.. so does that means my mobo is not really good for oc?

vcore and vdimm is ok, i suspect its the psu - cm extreme power 460watts

get a better psu if you want to overclock. smile.gif

The vcore and vdimm might not enough, but first thing you need to know before you start ocing is u need a good psu.

Get a decent truepower psu and from there we will start cranking the clocks slowly. smile.gif

Get a good psu first, then only we do a testing and from there we can know whether the current vcore and vdimm is sufficient or not.

Its all about a good psu and luck in overclocking.

Meaning the vcore is insufficient. But i advise you to get a proper psu before going further, the psu might blow up if stressed in the long term.

YES, get a better true power PSU.
sooner or later the cap ayam PSU will eat up your system,
leaving only casing for you smile.gif

seriously, grab a good PSU is the only choice for you now.

mostly the problem is come from the ram, try set to 1:1 and left the vcore at stock then u will able to stable.
although your ram rated at 1066, but due to diff strap will give u a diff PL value, it made the ram unable to stable.

ya, processor and dram voltage can set to stock.
most of the e7xxx can do 3ghz or more at stock vcore smile.gif
