QUOTE(Braynumb @ Aug 10 2008, 08:38 PM)
Anyone got advice on vcore settings for highest OC with a Q6600 running on a P35-DS3? on either 7x/8x/9x multipliers?

Currently highest OC is 3.5GHz at 389x9 1.55v stable. Cooled with a S1283. temps were really high... reaching 71'c-73'c...

but now, for daily use it's 3.2GHz at 400x8 1.4v stable. temps are 56-58'c load.

Help?? icon_question.gif

For my quad, im using 400 x9 settings on my P35 DS3 board.

3.6ghz at 400 x9 1.4875v bios set. load temps with sp2004 x4 would reach 70c. folding load max 58c.

btw im using watercooling to cool this quad beast sweat.gif

anyone has an idea on how to clock 600*6 on E6600
*
600mhz is a bit high in the first place to run it 1:1 , u can try it but i doubt because ur nb and sb would easily overheat because of the added voltage to them to enable the high fsb.

Im using team elite rams, which is also considered value rams.. no problems whatsoever.. maybe the problem lies on your proc which means not so overclockable. hmm.gif

Depends on what you're aim and use. To me i prefer a quaddie compared to E8600 as i use them for folding and quaddie benefit me more. smile.gif

500 is already considered high for quaddies, its diff with duallies where 500 is a norm.

1.41v is quite high for yorkfield, but to me if load temp is around 60c it should be ok.

@icemocha

I think you can improve the Delta using a better pump.

My idle temp is 50c and my load (both proc and gpu) temp is 60c. Using Storm V1 + DD Maze4 GPU + Laing D4 + HWlabs BIX2.

My gpu delta is same as your, 3-4c diff normally.

Cpu delta is like 6-8c on average.

Combined both is 10c delta.

My proc Q6600 oced to 3.6ghz @ 1.4875v..

oh ya wat software u use to record the temps ? i still wonder y urs delta so low... share some tips la
mayb my batch no good lo.... but i can reach 3.8ghz with 1.39vcore. 4ghz around 1.45+ gua... beside higher multiplier, no point upgrade from q9450 to q9550 but if E0 is out, u might have a try..

Im using coretemp/speedfan/gpuz to monitor the temps.

Yea, OC is good and comparable with E8xxx series. Just that many preferred the E8x00 series over the E7200.

Btw some typo on your review..

That Level 3 Cache is a bug from cpuz i guess.. hmm.gif

Another thing to take note is the orthos, min fft should be 8k and max should be 32k.

That way it will stress the proc even more under my test with E8400 and Q6600. E6300 procs have no problem with the default max fft which is 32k. Not sure whether orthos needs an update on newer procs or not because stressing it at 8k only would not stress it that much even if you run hundreds of loop if u noticed.. hmm.gif

my E8500 E0, running at 4Ghz @ 1.25vbios/1.232vdroop...vdrop didnt notice...idle around 43-44c...load at 60c...the room has no ac...
is it a normal temp for 45nm running at that speed/voltage?

E0 stepping temp sensor have no problem so it should be accurate.

so is that true that 1:1 is better than 2:3 ratio ? any logic behind it ?
is it necessary that i change to 667Mhz ? coz it seem that my pc running smoothly now  rclxub.gif  whistling.gif

Your pc running smoothly bcoz u oced the proc already, and better if you use 1:1. You can do some benches for the mem bench for other divider and see which one gives more bandwidth.
