Here are some of my general observations. I'm really stumped because for some reason, we can't seem to do what some midtable sides are capable of doing and I don't think it's down to having crappy players.

1) We can't seem to pass the ball accurately, even when it's a 10 yard pass. How often have we seen passes go astray? It's frustrating that our opponents always seem to be able to find their man with a pass even if he's surrounded by 3 players when we sometimes fail to make an open 10 yard pass.
2) Our players don't see the need to support the attack with any real urgency. Each time Torres or Gerrard pick the ball up, it's as though they are on a deserted island. We often end up passing the ball back or giving it away.
3) We lack creativity and imagination going forward. Players often stand around looking somewhat bewildered when given the ball.
4) We are poor at dealing with crosses. I don't know what it is but each time a cross gets pumped in, you get the sinking feeling it's going to lead to a goal.
5) Gerrard's corners are pretty ineffective. How many times do we score from corners? If I were to be critical, we often don't even manage to find a player, let alone score.

Don't mind me, I'm just venting my frustration.

this is so true. i dont think opponents worry about us having corners. most of the time we also do not posses any threat

The one player that can deliver good corner/cross and set piece is Aurelio.

Cross is fast and curling which make life difficult forr defender.

The problem is...Aurelio is barely fit for playing at least 5 matches in a row! He's always having problem after that... blink.gif

Plus with Konchesky's good debut at St. Andrews, RH will stick to him for the time being.

1- Ever since Alonso left this problem getting more serious. No true figure (including Gerrard) that can dictate the midfield and orchestrate the passes.

2 & 3 - Aqualaini suppose to fix this but.. oh well... now with Cole and Meireles introduction I hope this with eventually gone. Jova on the left seems not really working since he's tends to drift inside and lack the creative skill to make quick passes to hurt the opponent on counter attack. He always tried to bull his way forward. Maxi is alright I think.

4- Same with no 1. when Hyppia gone and this problem become worst. The greek looks like a decent air guard but he's only a backup CB.

5- i share your sentiment on this. gerrard shouldn't take any corners and sometimes freekicks. he is needed on the middle to deliver a thuderbolt whenever the ball got head out. Aurelio is the best options. Can Mereiles take corner?

Well, it's just the start of the season. We have Konchesky, Jovanovich, Poulsen, and a non-fit Torres in starting line up. 3 new players. I would reckon that they have had a decent game. Birmingham have a good record at home. Plus, we've haven't had any good results against them for quite sometime. I don't think we should yet push the panic button. We still have 34 games in the league to play, Joe Cole only played 40minutes for us in the league. Torres is still finding his feet.

I'm still looking forward to the coming games. However, I don't see us coming away with a result at OT. Rafa has the formula to beat them team. Not sure about RH. It'll be great if he can continue what's been done for the pass 2 seasons. That was 1 of the reason why part of me didn't want a new manager. I'm still not sure about RH, hence I will not judge him yet.

Yes, he may have made some very late substitutions to change the game play, but I believe Rafa too, always make his subs in the 70+mins.

I thought we played well against Arsenal. We were 10 men for half of the game. We were not defending with 10men for half of the game. We lost due to a mistake no one expected. I thought against Arsenal, we had a good game. I have to agree we were shit against Man C, and boring against WBA though.

Oh another thing, I believe in boogie teams and boogie players. It's just like how Man U would play against Boro few years ago. They never seemed to come out of the game with a good result, or against Danny Murphy.

Let's not push the Panic Button yet.

1 - Alonso - passing, good, sometime superb! when he left us, there is no one can replace him right now, and what the fkkk our scout do? there is 1818478455 league in Europe and you cant find one player like him ? shhhhhhhhht....no need perfect like Alonso, 80 - 90% like him will always do

2- i dont know it is RH instruction or they don't know what they are doing...Gerrard and Torres doing the job to pick up the ball?? Lucas and Poulsen buat apa? gentel? ...this is what happen when your DM cant do the job...need Gerrard and Torres to help...haizz....

3 - i dont know how to add comment on this, but its true...pass to right or left? or in front? aahhhh...just pass....booom! someone already pressure you, then your passing stray away.....

4 - for me its still 50-50...but the feeling leading to a goal still there....

5 - this is something i miss out, thankz for bring this matter up...there is no one can replace Gerrard? i want Gerrard score when we take the corner. He is good in scoring goal, so if he do the job taking corners..we have lose one good player scoring goal.

well enough la talking about tactics...im sure all staff in Liverpool FC are qualified to identify the problem...if not they dont get the job huh?

@kenlimfornication

yes bro, you are right...im also want to see the progress under RH, we just pointed out what we feel and i hope, RH has the same thought as we are here, and of course...its for our team Liverpool FC

one more question, if last season we draw with Birmingham, this season we draw again, are we moving forward or stagnant? or we can give a fact reason that 'others also cant win at Birmingham, so we ok what'...........@_@ ... please kill me...

i think our team need a winger like albert riera who can cross the ball. kuyt, babel, jovanovic and maxi is not really a good crosser.even glen johnson cross is not that great.

we could hav lost 2 nil if not for the superb keeping of Reina
we drew because we were LUCKY, this is FOOTBALL, sometimes when we played damn good we still lose due to the refree's fault
if this refree were unbiased, we would hav at least one penalty awarded, whether we managed to score tat spot kick is another thing BUT we actually hav claim to atleast one solid penalty, ie the tackle on Torres

currently, our setup is worst than last year team tat drew wif them, so RH still hav lots of work to be done sweat.gif

To be honest looking at the game, our midfield is non existent! Lucas kept losing possesion, Poulsen..i dunno what he is doing. we kept pumping the hopeful ball forward, hoping that torres will nick it to..wait..there is no one to nick the ball to, he is all alone upfront. Both poulsen and lucas are not confident enuff to to bomb forward. After the introduction of Meireles, we start to play better, because we got numbers up front, Meireles was actually helping the attack.

I say, the next game, drop both of them (lucas & poulsen), pair meireles and gerrard. Let gerrard do what he is doing for England in the past few weeks. Joe Cole will be in the hole, where he belongs.

i wish all of us are as optimistic as you digilife.

non of us, have seen a cohesive movement from liverpool in any game (BPL or europa). granted your view is that we are under a new manager. and as some of us pointed out RH hasn't extrude confidence or the dexterity of shrewd manager in game changing tactics, offering pointers on field when the passes (midfield-fwds) goes astray, using subs at crucial moments to change tempo or plug leaking midfield etc.

he (RH) appears to be just biding time. sure tactics (team list) are all drawn before any game but any shrewd manager will know you have subs to influence the outcome.

i hope we are all very wrong in our observations so far & the faint hope to be optimistic (as shown by you) rubs to our team as well. we desperately need some divine intervention.

bro, lets be patience.....

we really hav the quality in some new signings, Miereles, Konchesky and Cole
these are the 3 departments need enforcements
its not tat we are useless, juz tat our opponents played better, our opponent cross well, pass well as nd fast, pinpoint (like Alonso) they defended well, (look at wat Skretel and Johnson can do doh.gif )

LUCKILY we hav Torres ( though we is a bit jaded rite now) , Cole , Mierles , Konchesky (he is better than Insua thumbup.gif [sorry Sols]) and Kyut.
Once these Midfielders can play together, our confidence will be back

do you guys remembered when Cisse broke his leg, our confidence was at all time low then, however we managed to climb back and end the season in the top 5? rclxms.gif

now lets hav confidence in them and once we "steal" 1 or 3 points fr ManU in the next match, all will be back thumbup.gif

We'll never look back from then onwards icon_idea.gif

Alonso is not only about passing....the art of passing is not too difficult...if your're a pro footballer...

Its the way he control the tempo...Even Stevie G doesnt have that gift.....

one of the reason why lampard , fellaini , vidic , get red card last 2 years ago . The way he boss the midfield is superb but that is past tense , lets move forward and i think meireles can do wat alonso done last few years

The way I see it is that we played so badly that even West Brom side looked like an elite team(no offence to west brom fans). It is not that they played well and all that...Is us making them look good because we played way below part.Do tell me, how a side that get hammered by Chelsea 6-0 on opening day managed to hold us that long until Torres scored that winning goal? West Brom is a newly promoted side which, in the past, most of us would expect the team to thrash them by banging in few goals. Now, we happened to be that lucky to score one goal with ONE chance we created.Bloody hell.

I have failed to see how Hodgson will be able to change the club fortune. Not only that he is sticking to Rafa's tactic which is obviously no longer working, he doesn't seem like he is one who can handle pressure and deal with problems when the club need him to. The fact that he looks clueless, praying while watching his watch during Birmingham game do tell u smth. And he is actually happy with one point.

I am not hoping that Mourinho will come and manage us but at least I m eager to see someone of his passion and quality. If chelsea were drawing 1-1, he wont be hesitate to throw in 2 strikers to add more attacking power instead of stubbornly sticking to 2 holding midfielders which clearly isn't working.
