After Joe Cole and Kuyt back hope Liverpool can play more decent football. It's ok if you draw Birmingham at home but Liverpool only created 1 good chance and it come from Torres solo effort.
Kuyt---Meireles---Poulsen---Gerrard---Joe Cole ----------------------Torres---------------------- |

Roy put a defensive line up against WBA and Birmingham.. So, I wonder if it's gonna be a SUPER defensive this time against MU.

To me, its so bad now that i cant see how the footballing-related elements (coach, players, signings) can turn the corner...
Even if Torres and Gerrard return to thunderous form...and Joe Cole fulfills his potential, something just doesnt look right with our football As i mentioned in previous posts, changing the owners will spark a new life in this club.... Its bewildering....We're talking about a squad with Johnson, Agger, Babel, and many other internationals...Skrtle was in every game for his country during the World Cup ! i know...these are not Ashely Coles and Lucas is not Eissen but surely, we can play better football? I think majority of the Kop have lower their expectations....but i dont think they'll ever accept dry, uninventive and cautious football every week.... After 4 games, liverpool is at bottom half of the table with 5 points, 7pts adrift from the leader.

Honestly, whatever boardroom issues we have should stay in the boardroom. The fact that we are playing poorly have little, or nothing to do with the debts. It's not like their wages were freeze. The players, of all people should know better. Even Pompey who were in administration managed to beat us and put a decent display.
I'm keeping fingers crossed that players like Jova and Poulsen need time to settle in the PL but irregardless, we should be expecting something better than last Sunday with the crop of players we have. In fact, I expect us to be no less than 4th place come May. Otherwise, we can wave goodbye to players like Torres and Reina. So much for steadying the ship then. |

QUOTE(digilife @ Sep 14 2010, 10:07 AM) pls giv RH time Duke, i am sure he will lift us higher than 7th by the end of the season I'll leave being positive to you. I'm pessimistic by nature u and i dun know how his mind works rite? agreed? if u agree, lets think positive, nothing to lose to keep our morale high rite fyi, RH is the FIRST manager since Bill to win his first 4 European matches.........how abt this fact so No19 may not come this season, who knoes we will take our no19 b4 the Scum take it as Chelsea is ROCK SOLID this season In terms of Europe, fairplay but the fact that we've played teams I can hardly pronounce doesn't do much for me. If the mancs get no.19 this season, I'll probably reluctantly slip into a coma. |

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Sep 14 2010, 09:33 AM) Sure we had Didi and Gerrard but I still think our strongest midfield was forged under Rafa. Steve, Masch and Alonso all brought something different to the table and as the song goes, we truly in some ways had the "best midfield in the world", not forgetting Momo of course. Exactly, we weren't playing well against Birmingham, so why was he just praying, looking at his watch but no instructions given? I am no manager, but even Avram Grant lost himself when giving tactical instructions to the club, may not be useful but gotta admire the effort plus the passion. I may not be Gerard Houllier's biggest fan, but he thought about things, changed the strategies and mentalities of the players. When Rafa came, there were changes immediately as well.I admire your optimism, but other than positive thinking, why do you reckon Hodgson will turn things around with the current players we have? Will Lucas and Poulsen exceed expectations? The latter still has time but the former has been around for enough time now. It's the same tune each season, be positive. As I said earlier, I admire you for being eternally optimistic and whilst I do not believe prayers will solve our problems, it can't hurt. I just hope that whenever we see Hodgson on the bench, he isn't praying but rather, working out strategies in his head. We will however need divine intervention if we are to make it out of Old Toilet unscathed this weekend, so please pray harder. Brush it aside if you will but things are just that bad if you ask me. Despite all the positivity going around this thread last season, some of us actually saw it becoming this bad and trust me, only when the situation with the owners is resolved will we see a silver lining. It was the same last season and several posters insisted that our predicament would improve over time, without any evidence to suggest so. Problems and issues will not go away if we simply sweep it under a rug. We have to acknowledge that our current situation is grave. We don't exactly have the worst squad in the league but we quite often play like we do. Maybe you're right, maybe morale is the issue but after an entire season, it's beginning to sound more like an excuse than a reason. I would understand if RH was appointed just before the season starts, perhaps the players didn't have enough time to train with him, but it has been 4 games plus pre season, World Cup may have hindered the time he had, but this is Birmingham and WBA that we are talking about. If you ask me, WBA deserved at least a point but I am not complaining. Judging by what I'm seeing, we may only be looking to get our Champions League position back, however looking at the way we play plus RH isn't doing a favour for himself by playing down the title hopes to the media, we may say, RB likes to play the blaming game, but what has RH done till today? We are never gonna win the title as long as the owners do not sell? More like a "I can't win, thus I find an excuse" excuse. |

We drew with potential title contenders Arsenal, lose to moneybags Man City who have a great record at home, won WBA at home for 3 points, drew away to Birmingham who has the 2nd best defensive record at home whole of last season where they haven't lose for almost a year.
Not too bad I suppose... |

QUOTE(kazuki85 @ Sep 14 2010, 11:01 AM) We drew with potential title contenders Arsenal, lose to moneybags Man City who have a great record at home, won WBA at home for 3 points, drew away to Birmingham who has the 2nd best defensive record at home whole of last season where they haven't lose for almost a year. It is not the result issue alone. Not too bad I suppose... Out of 4 matches, Liv didn't play well in all of them. Poor against Arsenal, except some brilliant period soon after second half. Poor against WBA, little threat and penetration, scrap 1-0 win with poor performance. Poor against Mancity, don't need to describe further. Poor against Birmingham. Not like a team that challenge for 4th place. In fact, could easily lose 3-0 if not Reina superb save. If one doesn't know which team is which team, people may think Liv is the team the on bottom half of table that struggling in league position and struggling to get a goal one. All 4 matches, one identical issue, no threat to opponent goal. Opponents are actually attacking and Liv is the receiving end of bombardment. <--- this is the most worry part, not the result alone. |

Little teams can have good performance, when there is lot of uncertainty surrounded the players's head. In my view, a draw is an extreme good result for Liv for this Sunday match. |

i believe when in field/game, players and manager are the one who in control, ..what the heck they think of an uncertainty in 90 minute? something wrong with our motivator (do we have one?)
