Dear Sifus can I ask...how would i know that my phone is running on wifi or data if both Wifi and Data are on?
And does anyone know off any program that tracks data usage pls?

TQ very much

There are quite a number of programs in market.
I use 3G watchdog and Call meter NG. I like Call Meter NG as I can put in the cost per min for calls and sms. The program will give a running tally of how much I have used from the date I set. Can't see its totally accurate as there are different call charges to different telcos but I think its enough to keep a estimate of my usage.

Hi guys, Im on NextSense5.3 custom ROM with A2SD+, still wondering how does the A2SD+ works actually.

I have installed some apps and noticed (From Quick System info) following:
1) Some apps are entirely installed into A2SD. (A2SD storage was decreased, no changes on Internal memory)
2) Some apps are installed into A2SD but also decreases slightly on Internal memory.
3) Some apps (Eg Rock player v7) are installed entirely on internal memory. (No changes on A2SD storage at all)
4) Some apps (Eg Rock player v7) has the option to "Move to SD card" (From setting > manage application). Should I move to SD card for such apps which have this option? It will move to FAT32 in the SD card right? (So the A2SD partition and internal memory storage will not be affected which in a way will safe more space?)

Anyone can advise? thanks. smile.gif

When apps are installed onto card, some files are installed into phone memory. Similar to Windows - when you install say a program in D drive, some files will be install into , say windows/system folder. Those apps that are not installed on card, you can force move it over . Some apps being incompatible will still work with such force move, but you might see a blank icon if you put it as a shortcut on homescreen
All system apps and widgets must be install in phone memory

App2sd+ works directly as long as you have ext3 partition. It will automatically brg included into your phone memory.

For monitoring usage, try NetCounter. It can monitor 3g usage as well. The moment u turn on wifi, no data connection will be used. Unless no wifi connection is detected.

Anyonr hav any idea where to get brut map for google map?

Why not u root your desire? In result you will have 150-200+-MB free ram, no lag and the ability to install on SD n so much more

You should check the features of your rom to see how you can install on card. Normally those roms that features apps to SD onto sd ext, will be auto install over to card.
Only those roms that allow apps to SD on card ie the FAT32 portion - you might have to manually force shift it - check settings/applications - and move it over to card from there.

Some roms built in a ModInstall program - it is either display in menu or hidden in spare parts - before you install - tick the options you want : Auto or Internal memory or card.
If you choose auto, most of the older apps will install in phone as most probably the developer had not changed it to allow install on card. In such apps, after you install use force move over to card at settings/applications
Normally when I see such roms with modinstall, what I normally do is to install all apps on card and after complete, I force move over to phone memory those apps that need to be in memory eg widgets, system apps

Try use MarketAccess, a free app - is a very much better alternative, infact is an enhanced version of Market Enabler. ME is known to be incompatible with some roms but not MarketAccess. If you use market enabler, when you select the Telco, you have to hold down the telco name so that a prompt box will appear for you to select it

Hi, KTCY you have been very helpful, I thank you for all your help and advice.

Ok, regarding the BRUT maps. Yes I have both GPS and Data on. I can see the map grey out is moving as I drive around, but on top of it is "getting driving directions", and this won't go off despite I wait for 30mins.
Perplex by this.

Edit: Regarding data for Brut maps, I thought the whole idea of brut maps was so no need to use the data to keep downloading map tiles for google maps ? Doesn't Brut Map provide all the maps already ? A bit confusing on this.

Anybody got any idea ?
*
Nope. Brut/ Squrl map still uses data to download map.

You must NOT move first in order to get the GPS fix your location. As you drive around, it can't locate. Usually, I will wait till the getting direction gone before I start moving. It will be damn accurate after that wink.gif

i downgraded my friend's desire on hboot 0.92 back to 0.80 then rooted using unrevoked method. It works. Your hboot0.92 needs to be downgraded 1st back to 0.80 so that you could root it back again.
