QUOTE(Cynox @ Aug 19 2010, 05:52 PM) Just rooted my Desire... all went smoothly (using NextSense 5.3) without installing Amon Ra and thus no A2SD+. The phone boot up fine with everything in good order. BUT when I want to restore app+all data from Titanium Backup, the phone pop up a msg saying the program is not responding or something - so Force Close, Wait or Cancel(this one I not sure), so I choose Wait and the screen go black but the hard buttons at the bottom lights up. Waiting about 10-15 minutes later, the screen won't reappear, but the buttons light up if i press them. At the end, take out the battery and do a hard reset. Upon booting up my old sense UI appear but now almost every program got problem and system ask me to force close...zzzz What to do now (before I do something stupid)? Any advice is much appreciated. EDIT: I notice the SD card is not wiped off completely. If you downloaded the NextSense 5.3 from XDA, it comes automatically with APP2SD+. First boot will show about 60MB+ free space but after you did an EXT3 partition using ROM Manager, you will get about 135MB+.

QUOTE(KTCY @ Aug 19 2010, 07:30 PM) On my first boot for NextSense I have 13xmb IIRC. If you already have an EXT partition, then yes, its 135MB+. If you don't, its about 60+MB.

QUOTE(CKHong @ Aug 20 2010, 09:05 AM) haha... tonight will start the rooting so keep asking question ~ cus cynox bro said that his first attemp fail rite?? saying that the internal space is low then yesterday trying to read the nandroid thing and get confused... can give me some guide on nandroid thingy ? When you select recovery, there will be a Nandroid option there. Then, select backup and thats it. Again, if you follow the guides in the first page, its basically already step by step on how to do it. So no worries.

Btw, how can i upgrade to Froyo? ehehe..ask first and upgrade before i load my contacts into the phhone Yea, how much is it for AP? If its Europe AP set, then you might already have default FroYo via OTA.

QUOTE(coconutzz @ Aug 20 2010, 09:42 AM) OTA FroYo comes with a different HBOOT (0.92) compared to Eclair which is on 0.80. Current rooting method only comes with 0.80 HBOOT. So, if you update directly via OTA, you will get 0.92 compared to those Custom FroYo.

QUOTE(coconutzz @ Aug 20 2010, 09:45 AM) oh..meaning to say..i can still root..but not now..have to wait longer? So shall i wait and not update to Froyo yet? Yes. If you want FroYo now and still have root capability, make sure the phone you are going to buy is on 0.80 HBOOT and root using Custom FroYo available at XDA. Those custom FroYo are all running on 0.80 HBOOT.

This could be a sad news for those that are waiting for FroYo just for the Flash capability. http://www.electronista.com/articles/10/08...nd.unoptimized/

App2sd+ works directly as long as you have ext3 partition. It will automatically brg included into your phone memory.
For monitoring usage, try NetCounter. It can monitor 3g usage as well. The moment u turn on wifi, no data connection will be used. Unless no wifi connection is detected.
Anyonr hav any idea where to get brut map for google map?

Tested out Asphalt 5 on Desire just now. Very laggy. Probably due to my Class 4 8gb. Gonna shift to Class 6 and see whether its better or not,

QUOTE(LuffyPSP @ Aug 22 2010, 04:15 PM) cant help lor, i use tweetdeck account and it auto sign in my facebook and twitter. tweetdeck acts just like other fb and twitter, just that its combined together and will sent you notifications on accounts associated to your phone. if you use it on pc you would know better. i use it on pc only. dont like it much on phone, prefer a standalone widgets for fb and twitter. Added on August 22, 2010, 4:20 pmhehe i would buy it too but...zzz still a student and i think buying apps and games is more important... well i support other dev and yesterday paid for modaco rom...hehe... i was on NexTSense, working great, then changes to OpenDesire, still no problem. Now i'm on Modaco's R8, no problem still. Laggy until unplayable? thats not good~~ i played it smoothly on class 2~~ and i use A2SD+ and ext3 partition. I just changed back to Modaco Stock FroYo at the moment and its unplayable. Need to reflash back to NextSense i guess.

Any idea whether Papago X5 uses data connection? I tried starting the X5 just now, then exit the program. However, in the battery usage section, i still see the X5 running and no option to force stop the program. And i could not turn off the mobile networks.

All of the ROMs i have tested to far drains battery life. The moment you turned on Auto Sync, or WiFi, or listen to music or 3G and stuffs like that, you will see it drops quite fast. However, in terms of running idle, NextSense had so far been good to me. I turned everything off (no 3G, no WiFi, no auto sync) and overnight, it only dropped about 3%. Compared to the stock eclair that would usually take about 10 - 20% as well as Modaco Stock FroYo that uses about 5% - 8% as well.
