I think I have sorta' figured out what's the problem. It seems like it's the firewall. I turned off my Belkin's firewall then everything's back to normal. The pictures start loading smoothly. But, I don't want to leave my firewall off as well. Is there a config/ setting I should set?
*
I don't use a Belkin but a firewall shouldn't have this effect. Is this a new problem? Did you just get the Belkin? Was it working before?

One option is to keep the Belkin's firewall off and turn on the OSX firewall on your individual Macs. Honestly we don't even know what protection the Belkin's firewall actually affords you.

What Mac is this? I've been using my Magic Mouse with a MBP for about 2 months now. So far no disconnection problems.

Have you tried to re-do the bluetooth pairing?

Assuming it's not a hardware prob, the only thing I can think of is interference from something at the same freq. Are you on SL? All updates installed?

before i start using my Macbook, the problem exist but not that frequent. When I started using WiFi with my Macbook, it becomes worse. So, I followed your advice and turn on my Mac's firewall. Turning off the modem's firewall...will it really made the hacking easier? My computer and laptops...they won't be infected with virus or something right? Thanks btw.

you might get flamed for asking this kind of questions.. it has been asked a lot of times in this thread.. smile.gif

But anyhow, if you need us to help, do provide us more info like your financial status (if money is a problem, else people will be suggesting getting the most expensive model doh.gif ), what is your usage gonna be more on (video editing? Or just plain surfing? Or just for facebook? Or you play games?, etc etc)

if you want to know the difference, Apple has made this pretty easy for everyone.

You either reformat the Mac and reinstall OSX with the OSX DVDs that came with it or
just create a new user for you sis and remove your previous user. Just remember to specify that you want the files to be deleted when you remove the user.

MacBook Air. Much cooler than the plain old MacBook. Cool factor will be especially important since you're studying. I assume somebody other than yourself will be funding the Mac. If possible, get the 2.13GHz one and at least 128GB SSD because 64GB will probably not be enough. You might want the 13", doing serious work on the 11" is really frustrating and tiring.

The lighter weight also helps. You'd probably be carrying books and other stuff right? Anyway you don't want to leave it in the dorm if you're staying on-campus. It'll probly be stolen in the blink of an eye. If it's light, you can carry it with you all the time.

And also remember to DEAUTHORIZE any i-devices you have associated with iTunes on the computer so that you have an extra unit to link with iTunes. This is not necessary if you do not need more than 5 computers connected with each i-Device

insert the OSX dvd that came with the mac. restart, and press n hold C after the boot chime, until a grey apple logo appears (looks similar to how it'd normally boot, but this one will take quite a long time). then juz follow the instructions on how to install OSX

@mememe12 nope, only files placed in Macintosh HD > Users > Shared can be accessed by all other users.

@miaka_tama that's a firmware upgrade. usually, you just need to tap the power button (~1 second) and your Mac will power up.

Hey guys,
I am going to buy a WD HDD for Time Machine backup and some other storage.
How can I organize the HDD so that I can still keep the WD SmartWare(thinking of make 2 partition)?
And, how much size should I reserve for Time Machine?
Will Time Machine remove old backups?

After a while it hang again, I did another force shut down.

Now even I want to press next song in my iTunes I also need to wait for a few second for it to action. My Mac is MacBook white late 2009 with 4 gb ram. Anyone can teach me what to do?
