This is the 6th Version of the MacBook/MacBook Pro/Air Thread. I hope you macbook users can get along and share the joy of your MacBook.

New rules as FYIRE set last thread:

1. DO NOT SPAM
When I say do not spam. It means do not post useless '1 sen' posts such as 'Apple s**** , too expensive .. without being constructive. You can say Apple Sucks but please do provide your reason. For example
CODE
I think MacBook Pro is overpriced. This is because I could get a laptop with a similar specification for half the price. On top of that , there are some heat-releated issues that Apple should solve with their MacBook Pro series. Overall for me , I don't think its worth it. Its just my thought

2. BE POLITE

Please respect other members here and don't just start to flame. We should be thankful that the Administrators for giving this marvellous place
I hope you enjoy your new MacBook/MacBook Pro/Air Thread

- antiglare screen protector if u cannot stand the glare
- palmrest protector if u wear metal watch / sweat a lot. try moshi palmguard
- keyboard protector is a must if u eat/smoke in front of ur mbp. silicone types attract dust n too 'smooth' to type, can try moshi clearguard
- invisible shield / speck casing to protect against scratches
- a good, padded laptop bag
- kensington lock, make sure it's easy to use n carry. else u wont use it
- not an accessory, but i'll recommend anyway: applecare protection plan
*
wow.. u bought kensington lock too? can share which one and how much?

i would suggest u get either 1 of these apps: appzapper, cleanapp or cleanmymac
because sometimes the move to trash method will still leave some residue files (e.g. preferences settings). by using either 3 apps it'll get rid of those stuff as well smile.gif
*
i m using appzapper too.. it is useful smile.gif

Is it normal for the bottom of a MBP to be hot even after using for just half an hour or so?
*
erm.. i think it should be normal.. because it is aluminium.. and it takes a short while to cool down too..

QUOTE(Moutzu @ Aug 18 2010, 11:48 PM)
Good evening nimrod323,

Thx 4 ur quick response. Do you mean the inverted triangle icon at the bottom right of the safari window vertical scroller? If it is, can you pls show me how to adjust? BTW, do you forumers view the page @ 800x600 reso?
*
as a new mac user.. it is something that we hardly get used to it when we moved from PC tongue.gif that Mac way of maximize stuff is like tat smile.gif but there is way to tweak it, one way is using Divvy which is not free.. but there are several ways to do.. i forgot d.. hv to google..

a few more things that u will realize soon are:
1) the delete = backspace... to use delete in mac.. must press FN + delete
2) there is no CUT in mac, got copy only..
3) no CTRL + F5 / F5 to refresh, just Cmd + Shift + R / Cmd + R

erm.. thats what i can think of at the moment.. i m new mac user since May too tongue.gif

Added on August 19, 2010, 12:01 amyea.. and just in case u will ask.. if u want to uninstall a program, u can just drag it and throw into dustbin.. but it is recommended that u use program like AppZapper to completely delete the related files smile.gif

*

Just wondering is it worth it to get an external hard disk with FireWire 800 instead of USB 2.0?
*
if u are using it as time machine backup.. firewire is better because of the speed.. but if u want portable.. USB still more common.. i m using WD 1TB to do backup smile.gif

Hey guys, does anyone know if its possible to connect 2 screens to my macbook. Im currently using a 23inch dell lcd as my primary display with the macbook shut (basically like a mac mini). I want to extend to 2 monitors not duplicate the screen. Anyone had experience with this before?
*
i only connect to 1 ext monitor.. i m not sure is there any cable that can output 2 monitor or not..

QUOTE(kalosneri @ Aug 19 2010, 04:45 PM)
No need to used fw800 for time machine, the backup only take time for the first time backup, after that no more issue regarding of transfer speed.  I used USB as a time machine backup and fw800 and fw400 as a movie (HD and Bluray) and mp3 storage.
*
when backup big files such as movie.. i think having fw is no harm smile.gif

Nah... it's not that bad once you get used to it... I'm using Safari with DTA, problem is just manual assignment of downloads to DTA.., most of the time I assign heavy downloads via DTA on my desktop PC, I don't need to strain my MBP hdd too much... tongue.gif
*
so DTA is a firefox plug in and not a standalone app right? is there any similar product in Google Chrome?

and what app you guys use to convert wma to other format that Mac can play?

anyone know what is the problem?

one more thing, lets say if i display 800x600 things on a macbook pro 15 inch, does it stretch it?
u mean wallpaper? if wallpaper, u get to choose to fill or to stretch and etc.. but if picture, of coz wont stretch..

and if upgrade hdd by yourself will void warranty onot?
no, HDD and RAM wont void the warranty
