Added on September 9, 2010, 11:29 amlose a game to a protoss, he go combination unit of zealots, stalkers, and colossus, even i defended with 2 spine crawlers, roaches, hydras, and the fight took place in my base's entrance(not many stalkers can stand there), i still lose the fight, he uses aura(+2 armor) and colossus dont have the+3 range. the amount of my units is almost same as his, but i lose !! What i did wrong ?

colossus would be +2 range actually...
i think its because of the location it suits as ur small concave would help the colossus burn through 5 at a time splash easily lol...
roach = tank, hydras = dps but hydras die too fast to colossi...
u shoulda engage him somewhere else or get some mutas/ corruptors for the colossus...

If you dont mind I will go straight with it..

You should have try to use your first few zergling to find out his base build before committing into spine crawler.

When you nydus, try to sneak, meaning out of enemy sight, not right where he can see you. Because the whole idea of nydus is relying on element of surprise..

You expanded but you did not make good use of the natural expansion, there's hardly any harvester there, I realised you are mineral heavy on early game, perhaps you should have push your expansion a little faster. Your opponent is playing passively too, which is good for you.

Just a little thought, when I go for roach warren, I always build additional overloads before the building is ready because roach is so so so food heavy

Having some trouble after my zergling rush doesnt work, go roaches doesnt work.... problem in mid-game which i have no idea what strat or units to build!!!

baneling bust is the most effective cheese for a beginner zerg player.
Trust me, it really works especially vs Terran..

if your rushing skill isnt good then dont rush it, having zerglings and control watch towers, whenever AI send out their troops, move your zerglings(best if got speed upgrades) into enemy base, bypassing all their troops, do not keep all your zerglings in base, they arent good at defending, but they are extremely good if you move them into enemy mineral line and let them go loose. if you want to defend with zerglings, make sure you have 2 teams, split them and try to surround your enemy, DO NOT DO NOT fight in a small space where only a few zerglings can attack while the rest running around, must surround your enemy to make zerglings effective. I can beat very hard AI with only using zerglings, no spine crawlers no roaches, no hydra, no mutas and no rush.

very important to take control of watch tower, and keep an eye on it every a while. whenevery enemy tries to attack you, sneak your zerglings into your enemy base and clean off his workers. best if you have upgrade its speed, they can outrun anything, and try to get burrow too, hiding some zerglings around is good, ie hide 1 zergling in every possible mineral locations. for defend, if you arent good with zerglings only, can consider spine crawlers, can even expand early and drop few spine crawlers, move your zerglings outside, when they touches your spines then only you use them.

ya cannot build on it, u will see a red rectangle utilized(should be), but im not suggesting that method to block, ppl can always build 1 or 2 cell away, and doing that is dump to tell your enemy that u got a spy there, letting them to build pylon/cannon 1st.

i think build order is important but still micro-management is even more important, if you able to micro your units effectively, you can win a battle and usually lose, for zerg, their queen is quite good at healing, but too bad it cannot be an auto-cast skill. saw some replays, and those elite zerg players can use heal to turn a losing battle into a winning 1. with queen, corruptors, movable roaches while burrow and some good micro can make zerg really powerful.

wondering if you are a zerg and vs a protoss, if the protoss start with 1 gateway(crono zealots), can you defend yourself if you go early expand in a small map ? usually i wont do it without some troops around but i seen some replays, they usually do it very early even they only had 2 or 4 lings.

One gate can be easily defended by lings. So FE would not be a problem usually.

I was practicing some strategy with a V.H AI. Tried early expand, pump lings, then rush hydra, bypass roach, then defend with hydra+queens, I must say with proper micro(healing) and queen taking hits, its quite powerful combination, can really push alot of protoss units back without heavy losses. Too bad i think i was too slow making the attack, AI able to get immortal and high templar, with few feedbacks, loses almost all my queens, but the point is, queen can be bring to front line, in fact, they are pretty good for taking hit(1 armor, 175hp) and capable of healing others.
