I still dont get it how 4gate is an ALL-IN

if uu play around more as toss u would understand,
constant producing only gateway units for the push, basicly
1. ur not teching
2. u might cut probe for xtra pylons n unit
3. u wont hv an expansion

but ofcoz uu can say i will go 4 gate jz to pressure n contain n i would macro n tech up, but den, ur force would not be tat big, n wont apply much pressure to the z player

u are kinda mistaken...
a 4-gate is only a all-in depending on ur compo...
2 stalker = 2 zealot 1 sentry...
usually vs zerg, toss go for heavy zealot sentry thus its nt all-in...
if his stalker count is high then its an all-in...

if the 4gate is early (around 30food) its more of an all-in compared to roughly a 40food 4gate push...

best way to def 4gate is to go 3 hatch with spine (1main, 1natural, 1semi choke hatch with spines placed nicely near it)...
drone up until u see his 4 gate move out then pump speedlings...
the trick is to balance ur larvae for drone and units so u are ahead when u hold off the 4gate...

note: before roach buff

yeah n im refering to the 4gate push which uses famous 3:3:1 ratio.
i find it very very deadly, but once defended, everything kinda goes my way.

I read about other method including using hydra to def behind spine crawler line. But I do see some 4 gate come as early as 5.00 game unit timing

Even roaches do well against gate pushes after the patch because of their range. I don't think I need hydra anymore against 4 gates

Nahhh. I tried to roach rush and it failed. Stalker can kite and micro well since they are faster and have further range than roach. Plus roach got a sucky DPS considering 2 second duration for each attack.

not really...
roach on creep are faster thus u should be spreading creep to a certain distance at least...
and stop move micro > atk speed (slower = easier to micro and bigger focus fire burst)

at what minute u reach their base with ur 5rr?
u can actually reach their base at about 5th minute i guess,
at that time if they play a 3 gate, they should only have 2 stalkers and 2 zealots..
and if they only produce mass zealots, its a gg..
their zealots can't reach the newly buffed roaches! hehe

at around 5th minute. Opponent chrono boost his warp gate research so yeah.

And he micro his stalkers, my roach count (around 8) didn't manage to one shot stalker so what he did was move the red hp stalker behind and keep repeating while my roach keep dying one by one

while rushing ur roaches, bring along ur lings..
if the stalker is covered by a building, u shoot the building. Have a safe distance from the building where the stalker cant shoot u..

*edit: u shoot the building if they wall off with buildings and ur units can't go in

It's my fault for shooting destructible rocks instead of his buildings which gave him time to prepare for sudden rush

as we saw from idra in this morning's MLG, the roach's 4 range allow u to be offensive vs the toss...
micro ur roach to shoot the buildings from a safe distant and force and engagement...
if u see he starts to go stalker heavy, some speedlings for surround + roaches would be deadly...

dun try to go after the stalkers...
pull back, and poke buildings from time to time...
force an engagement where the stalkers cant kite...

hi guys...having problem wif my zvt recently...
how to u guys defend against mass marines+marauders?
mass roach?
when they see roach, they js add in siege tanks and they keep pushing even after u have cleared the 1st wave...
i've even used 3 spines + roaches but stil hard wif the marauders around...lings can't even get near =.=
hydra manage to hold them once but when they came the 2nd time...gg doh.gif

added: 2nd wave pure marine+marauder+stim...super fast production @@

btw, anybody notice tat on metalopolis, the natural is pretty hard to def when your opponent is on ur opposite vertically. Meaning, if u are at 11, your opponent is at 7 or if u are at 1, your opponent is at 5...they will use the high ground n move in >.<
