Reporting from Selayang baru here. I just went to check around and found out that almost the entire area has the TM boxes on the telephone poles now with disconnected cables so I assume it will take about 1 month to get the whole thing done.

Hopefully they can speed up the process so I get to enjoy Unifi soon

Can you surf any websites by using this Buffalo WHR-HP-G300N ?, based on my experience it can only connect to google. Other websites seem barred. This Buffalo router got some issues -drop connection & you need to set some script on it, Should ask Rizvan, he did once for me.
*
Sorry may I know what do you mean by "only connect to google"? You mean can only go to www.google.com ?
I have no problem surfing internet on WHR-HP-G300N here.

Previously when Buffalo launched it's own version of dd-wrt for this device [I think around May'10], I encountered frequent PPPoE disconnection & self-re-boot problem.
Later I re-flashed with BrainSlayer's Jul'10 version seem to be more stable and no such problem.
I just re-flashed with Aug'10 and tested on UniFi for an hour seem to be ok.

I really don't know how to "set some script", do we really need to do so on this unit?

Btw the TM fellow told me to quickly register because port tak cukup.. izzit ?

I think this one depends on your area. The box outside my house only has 2 connections; i.e 2 subscribers so far.

Well yeah... not that I would bother with the "unlimited" tag from BIZ 5 package, but more like I am thinking BIZ5 package would come with better IP range, bandwidth allocation in the event of SWS4 goes down, which is rather common.

Which TMpoint is that, that allows you to applied BIZ5?

Hi, where do I get the Brainslayer Aug 10 version ya? Am gonna go and buy WHR-HP-G300N today, hopefully. Can't afford the Cisco switch Rizvanrp recommended, and don't know where to find the Mikrotik in KL. Thanks for any tips and advice!

There was a bug with some of the previous Brainslayer firmware versions causing TCP connection drops for some reason. You had to run 'iptables -F FORWARD' in order to fix it sad.gif I suppose its been fixed by them already

You may find his Aug'10-R14896 listing here:
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V...8-07-10-r14896/
for WHR-HP-G300N
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V...o_whr_hp_g300n/

Alternatively, you may also find from the dd-wrt database:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database
just type something like "buffalo whr" should see the listing.

I think Malaysia & Singpoare Mikrotik distributors may find at:
http://www.mikrotik.com/howtobuy.html

If confirm this one can work stock standard to replace the DIR-615 completely, I'll consider to get one also, hope Rizvanrp can re-confirm again nod.gif

no wonder I was having frequent PPPoE disconnection and sudden re-boot problems on earlier built, thanks for the detail infor!

On another topic on the ASUS RT-N12 [Broadcom], I was reading : http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Switched_Ports
follow the instruction just managed to telnet and get the following:
Attached Image

Assuming the N12 port assignment is:
0 = port 4
1 = port 3
2 = port 2
3 = port 1
4 = WAN
5 = CPU internal

May I know:
1. Since the WAN port assignment is always disappeared after rebooting and PPPoE cannot connect, what command do we have to set to "hardcode" WAN port to vlan1.500?
2. Do we need to run the following in order to set LAN4 for IPTV?
nvram set vlan0ports="1 2 3 5*"
nvram set vlan1ports="0 4 5"
nvram commit
reboot

Sorry, I'm junior and still trying my best to learn & setup, really appreciate your help ! notworthy.gif

I got my VIP5 installation done at home last saturday and started experiencing problems with the DIR 615 a day after. The problem was one where internet access kept crashing. Initially, a simple reboot (off and on) rectified the problem as I was told the unit tends to overheat and crash. This became a daily affair whereby I'd need to off and on the unit at least once a day.

Yesterday morning was no different when I found internet access was down. This time however, the usual off and on routine did not work. The DIR 615's LAN ports must be dead as the lights blink once after initial boot up, go off and stay off.

I have lodged a complaint and am awaiting for TM's guys to come by for a diagnosis. Was told that if necessary, they'd issue a replacement unit.

My worry is that this problem will persist even after a replacement has been done as I leave the entire setup on 24-7 and mind you, I'm no heavy downloader, mainly surfing and IPTV (my home TV reception suxx).

I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this and if this is the case, why is TM still sticking with the DIR 615? D-link products are well known to react negatively when overheat occurs and their overheat threshold are not "high".

Anyone found an alternative to the DIR 615 yet?

You know I am rather worry with the DIR-615 issue after seeing so many guys here having problems.
Tmnut can offer lifetime warranty for lease equipment like BTU, but DIR-615 is 1 year only under a 2 year Unifi contract. doh.gif In other words every single one of us will get rip off by Tmnet after 1 year if our router fail.

The retail DIR-615 is about RM130-RM140. I highly doubt Tmnut gonna sell us @ that price.

This WAN port assignment disappearing only applies to VLAN interfaces on Broadcom chipsets. I did some testing with prodigy last night and apparently, even if you hard code it to vlan1.500 it will refuse to send out any tagged PPPoE traffic. It might have something to do with the nvram variables or maybe broadcom chipsets just dont allow VLAN interfaces as WAN ports, lol

Alamak, sound negative news on Broadcom chipset doh.gif
It's strange, some LYN dd-wrt forumer did recommend Broadcom base, but no response on how to do it:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f...0#entry35317179

What about Ralink or Atheros?
I have both WHR-G300N and WHR-HP-G300N, now able to connect internet through:
WHR-G300N Ralink on VLAN2.500
WHR-HP-G300N Atheros on eth0.500

May I know how to setup or "hardcode" command to make vlan2.600 [Ralink] & eth0.600 [Anthros] and map to LAN4?

I'm willing to do any testing even risk of bricking it, I really just want to replace that DIR-615, with such low quality & unreliable product, I can't imagine what will happen after 1 year .... sad.gif

Appreciate your further advise/guidance here! notworthy.gif

Well, my failing dlink has been replaced by TM this morning. Called them last Friday complaining about the unstable dlink, this morning 2 nice chap from TM turn up, and quickly replace the dlink. According to them they are many issues with this router and TM is seeking a quick solution. After 2 hours of heavy used, seems ok so far. I must commend the friendly and helpful attitude of their technicians, its not their fault but TM as a corp.
