I was a bit skeptical about the large downloads being corrupted problem (as TCP/IP is error correcting), but seems it is quite true.
I just tried downloading the Ubuntu 10.10 netbook beta from here: http://ubuntu.bytecraft.com.my/releases/10.10/ The MD5SUM for this file should be: 10bec11e0ab5a9c195289b861b71e51e ubuntu-10.10-beta-netbook-i386.iso But on checking my download, I got this instead: 9e5f29f2c5aeb04056529c8ba16eb255 ubuntu-10.10-beta-netbook-i386.iso There were no errors during the download. And since it is over TCP, if it was any corruption in the line during transmission, it should have been taken care of by the network stack already. Unless the network stack is faulty ...? Interestingly, bytecraft also makes their files available over HTTPS, which adds an SSL layer over the TCP stream. SSL has another level of error checking, separate from the network stack. In real life, SSL should never see an error when it is running over TCP, as TCP already does error checking and corruption. However, this is what I got (ignore the warning about certificates): » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Well, wget gave up after 20 SSL errors. But it's a pretty convincing demonstration that something is definitely wrong. I would consider UniFi totally unusable for anything more than "for fun" at this rate, certainly not for work or business transactions. I wonder how long this has been going on for? I just got my UniFi a few days ago. |

Must be TM's unnecessary pre-Raya "tweaking" of the Unifi network in general before it becomes RM 200 more expensive later on lol...
Streamyx seems to be immune from this so called corrupt downloads problem, must be a sub network problem only affecting the network stack of Unifi users only lol... |

I noticed when looking at VOD previews, there is a corruption in the data every 30-90 seconds ... the image becomes blocky like astro just when it is about to start raining. I wonder if this is the same corruption affecting our downloads?
Don't see it on livetv however. Anyone else seeing the same? And why isn't livetv affected? |

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Sep 6 2010, 12:19 AM) All having corrupted download?May i try download the files?I experienced no such thing anyway.. Bro, which area in Keramat? Service is already available?Living in Keramat.. BTW, I got this info from TM tech/eng when they came to install my bro's Unifi the other day. They claimed that they could provide 100mbits conn but due to the deal they're having with the Japs, they are unable to provide more than 20mbits. Not sure how much truth in it. Just saying. Keramat not available until 4th quarter (I also live there).
Well damn, I thought unifi would be complaintless (I don't really care about the router. I always use my own). I'm thinking twice. |

Yup, I just called in to their 1222.Well damn, I thought unifi would be complaintless (I don't really care about the router. I always use my own). I'm thinking twice. According to him, only AU3 and AU4 are covered at the moment. Other AUs will have to wait and earliest would be on Oct 1st. |

QUOTE(billytong @ Sep 5 2010, 09:41 PM) Well I am just stating that the RB750 would be another alternative of RB250GS (which I think should work as RB750G). Unifi is @ 20mbps @ best for now. Even the fiber line wont be reaching 100+mbps anytime soon knowing TM is slow in intro new package. Is the configuration similar to that of RB250GS? Where did you get your RM750? I have searched around Low Yat, Sg Wang and Imbi, no one heard about Mikrotik even RB750 is price around RB250GS while the RB750G is about 60-70% higher, so it would make sense to those who need alternative with tight budget. Unless you are transferring huge amount of files between PCs I do not see gigabit LAN is needed. The only draw back now is the lacking of Wifi feature to completely replace 615. |

QUOTE(oreomambo @ Sep 5 2010, 10:54 AM) Since you are using froyo mod, check your wireless setting in your phone. Settings->Wireless & network-> wifi settings ->(hit the more button) -> Advance -> Wifi- Sleep policy. The very next day after installation, the dlink router fracked daily.Check if your radio button is having "When screen turns off". That means if you switch off your screen or lock the phone, the wireless will be disconnected after a while of idle. If you want it enabled all the time, choose "Never". Beware that it will drain ur batt like a sucker. These are the settings on my Nexus with froyo, but it should be more or less the same for you. On the other note, my fracking dlink causes so much frustrations. Goes bonkers daily and had to switch off for a cool down period for a while. And that is just by watching IPTV alone for a short period without any other connected wireless nor lan. Wonder why Telekom can pass QC on such hardware against their own custom firmware. UAT for only 1 day also will find problems. |

QUOTE(wcewong @ Sep 4 2010, 06:22 AM) New Unifi user reporting in. I can confirm that the RB750G works for the Unifi. As a matter of fact, it works like a charm. You need to set up SNAT in order to enable the private network to acces the Internet. How do u configure the SNAT in this RB750G? Do you mind to share with us?RouterOS is seriously powerful too. Its like you can run a mini ISP with billing features, QoS, etc. I have just left my router on for one night. Looking at the logs, I am seeing brute force attacks via SSH already. Prior to this, I had no idea that the Internet was such a hostile environment! |

This is getting ridiculous, I get more and more packet losses, Unifi is good for only 3 days after installation.

QUOTE(alextong8386 @ Sep 6 2010, 09:38 AM) Hi, its actually quite easy, just use the following command:CODE /ip firewall nat <press enter> add chain=srcnat action=masquerade src-address=<CIDR notation of your network e.g. 192.168.1.0/24> Then it automatically works like a charm. You can surf and so on! I would suggest you configure the firewall further as well. I seem to be getting hostile traffic from Chinese IPs every minute. |
