Is the configuration similar to that of RB250GS? Where did you get your RM750? I have searched around Low Yat, Sg Wang and Imbi, no one heard about Mikrotik even rclxub.gif

Bro,

The configuration of RB250GS is very different from the RB750G.

The RB250GS is a managed switch whereas the RB750G is a full-fledged router as Rivzan has mentioned. Think of the 750 as a standalone computer running Linux with 5 network cards installed.

There is a web configuration interface for the 750G but the options are very limited. You need to configure it via telnet using the CLI in order to access the advanced features.

I have been running Linux full-time for the last 8 years and even then, it took a a good few hours to fully configure the router (rusty firewall skills) to my liking. sweat.gif

As far as I know right now, you can only purchase it in Malaysia from Landasan or you will have to bring it in from Singapore.

For all those who cannot get through or get bad customer service, e.g.

1) Put you on hold for 10 mins then hang up on you if you keep waiting
2) Put you on hold for 10 mins then pick up the call and put the phone on the table and ignore you till you hang up

Pls complain to SKMM.

Hopefully, with enough complaints, we can force the customer service to improve.

Added on September 6, 2010, 10:47 amPlease bear in mind, only complain to SKMM if it is something serious like the examples I mentioned above. If you only waited for 30 seconds and hang up, please don't bother complaining. laugh.gif

We don't want them to start ignoring complaints from SKMM because ppl abuse it.

Hi, its actually quite easy, just use the following command:

CODE

/ip firewall nat

<press enter>

add chain=srcnat action=masquerade src-address=<CIDR notation of your network e.g. 192.168.1.0/24>

Then it automatically works like a charm. You can surf and so on!

I would suggest you configure the firewall further as well.

I seem to be getting hostile traffic from Chinese IPs every minute.  ohmy.gif

Thanks bro for ur prompt reply.

May I know how we enter the IP web base interface for RB750G? Are there any tab to click in order for us to key in the command that u had provided to us?

I do not have the non-G version so I have no idea.

I am guessing it should be the same.

I wish to thanks for Riz's guide on Customized Router, I have successfully configured my newly bought TP Link TL-WR941N internet wireless router as VLAN bridge from TM-DLink DIR-615, they work flawlessly !

Currently all my equipment (PC notebook, iMac, iPod touch, Blackberry Bold, Squeezebox (network media player) are connected wirelessly with DHCP from TL-WR941N without any problem.

Here's the speedtest result.

Thanks again to Riz and kudos to his wonderful writeup !

p/s: My UNIFI just being installed 3 days ago, TM D-Link DIR working very well 24/7 with notebook fan running 24/7, but decided to customize the above setup to reduce DIR-615 stress and prolong its life.
