I use to get full bars or 80% at least a month back. Now it's like Umobile network is crippled in Ipoh.

If this continues, I'll terminate their service soon.

Damn I thought coverage in Ipoh is pretty good. unsure.gif

ok guys/gals, please keep the discussion back to umobile.

Read general rules #2: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=boardrules
maxis stuffs goes to maxis thread. same goes to ytl yes.

dont troll and show your maxis/ytl/celcom/digi/p1 speedtest in here.

you wouldnt want umobile users show the high-speed speedtest in maxis/ytl/celcom/digi/p1 threads, right?

keep the discussion clean and constructive to help each other. wink.gif

Added on November 28, 2010, 8:33 ambtw, have any1 done speedtest in BTS? wonder what do ppl really get tongue.gif

the network there is hspa+ already. 7.2mbps modem users should be now "unlocked" with its potential.

mdma shows my prepaid profile is 4096kbps. that means my max speed would just topped at this?? (someone confirm)

if true, we gonna wait for full commercial launch b4 umobile allows users to go extra speed biggrin.gif
*
you wouldnt want umobile users show the high-speed speedtest in maxis/ytl/celcom/digi/p1 threads, right?

you should be more open minded, if we dun compared how do we know which is better than who?

users hav the right to know, if you dun like the speedtest of other celcos posted here, you can ignore it, no harm done rite?

btw, a profile of 4096kbps is 3.6Mbps as my Maxis profile uplink is 2048 and downlink is 8640 , meaning its 7.2Mbps ready now

i am not promoting Maxis and dun intends to do so, this is for the knowledge of users here icon_rolleyes.gif

Attached Image

although its 7.2Mbps we are not getting the best out of it yet as can be seen below

user posted image

even some of you users here tat hav a profile of 3.6Mbps can even surpassed Maxis 7.2Mbps doh.gif

Just buy a prepaid simcard from U mobile which cost RM5. Buy reload coupon of RM 70. Insert simcard in any mobile phone and subscribe UB68. Yr credit would be deducted after subscribing and you have 1 month unlimited usage starting from the moment you subscribe. I just use my huawei E550 modem and log on. You would enjoy max speed of 3.6 Mbps. tongue.gif

Install MDMA to log on for better speed.

No other prepaid in malaysia give you this speed with this unlimited download. YES can go to hxll if compared with U mobile. vmad.gif

Instead of easing the frustration of Rakyat, Tan Sri Francis is giving more frustration to us with this pricing. cry.gif

how do UM Prepaid Broadband charge users?

i intends to use it only for my Ipad browsing without any Torrenting and P2P, and will the unuse credit be forfeited once the validity expired?

thanks

@cybpsych cool man, @digilife cool man

i am okay that YES, Maxis, DiGi, Celcom, P1, Streamyx, Unifi or whatever broadband comparison, user has the right to know,

@digilife haha, showing off Maxis Unlimited is it tongue.gif, some user reported that Maxis is now silently selling this, same old price RM99, not too sure on this, I personally never interested, too much broadband leh

on prepaid, you had to buy it at RM8 (inside has RM5), then top up RM63 (RM50 denomination once) at least, the credit will deduct at once, which is RM68, your validity usually 150 days from the RM50 reload. NO credit will be forfeited, after active, your line can stay for another passive 100 days

I know it is kind of hard to explain, well, you better make sure you want a RM50 reload at once, so you can get the number stay active for 150 days

@eXPeri3nc3 try to monitor your speed and latency, you can log a complaint of course

@iipohbee any chance you had log a report to customer service

meaning once i topup rm70 (50+10+10) i will hav a validity of 150 days to surf and after the 150 days, if i dun topup, the sim is still valid for another 100 days(passive) till the 101th day whereby the sim will be deactivated?

if i wan to reuse bb again i will hav to topup another rm70 and the cycle goes on....

how will UM charge me on the data usage? or rather how much data can de used for a rm70 topup?

compared to the UB 40 or UB 68 which is "cheaper" to use

abt the UB40, will the rm68 be used to offset the monthly bill as i understands tat rm100 will be "rebated" back to me in 5 monthly installments

thx

p/s i actually wanted to subscribe YES, but it seems tat lots of users are crying foul over the billing esp the rm1200 one time pymt type

week signal is one matter.

poor speed is another. most probably due to congestion on this small area. start bugging umobile to expand more basestation there to cope with ever increasing users there.

@digilife , you got me all confuse leh

UB68 postpaid: 1 month, 5GB up to 3.6mpbs speed, 128kbps after that
higher upfront cost, has modem bundle option

UB68 prepaid: 30 days, 5GB unlimited speed, 128kbps after that
minimum startup cost, around RM78, no modem bundle, as far as I know UB68 prepaid does not auto renew

UB40 is 2GB 1mbps speed, PAYU charges after that (Maxed RM176), beware
the activation fee RM100 is for postpaid, if you subscribe UB40, but you still have to pay RM68, it will pay your first month subscription, RM28 then carry forward to your next month bill, of course there is still RM20 rebate monthly (from the activation fee) for over 5 months

This is confirmed to be due to weak signal.

I walked out of my house and noticed some slight improvement to my signal strength. Did a speedtest on the spot and immediately saw improvements..
From 300ish speeds to 900ish-1mbps+ speeds.

Previously I used to get almost full bars with Umobile3G most of the time.Speeds used to be good with over 2mbps.But since Yes launch approaches, the signal in my area dropped from full to almost none.

Read the back pages next time.

@Quantum_thinking @ulart_mie how is now?

@digilife , the choice is yours. U Mobile does advantage

Yes:
Upfront Price: Huddle (its own MiFi) RM399 plus RM50 activation fee
Coverage and Speed: check the coverage first, quite limited, for the user that sign up, they said it is so far so good, give its pricing model, it won't be crowded
Bill Shock: No, but service interruption once you run out of credit
Prepaid Model

U Mobile:
Upfront Price: MiFi RM378 all inclusive RM100 activation fee (will be rebate to you in 5 months), and RM68 (1 month UB68 service)
Coverage and Speed: check the coverage first, usually more than 1mbps
Bill Shock: No, no service interruption after 5GB
Postpaid Model
Edit: U Broadband do has prepaid model, but prepaid (does not have to pay activation fee) does not have the modem bundle and activation fee rebate.

I finally notice that U mobile only switch their network to the Celcom network when there is no 3G coverage.

I have subscribe my UM 20, but the Celcom network allow normal stuff such as normal calls or sms only. I cannot use the internet service in the Celcom network for the U mobile Internet??

from the above, UB68 is the BEST as we can buy the MiFi @ rm210 which is a steal comparing to Maxis new Ipad Data plan [to be launch next week] which they are selling the MiFi for rm380( data plan starts from rm58 for a 1.5GB quota doh.gif , UM quota is 5GB for rm68 b4 rebate)
smart guys will/can sell the MiFi @ Garage Sale for rm300+ if they dun wan to it icon_idea.gif

agree on the frequent dc. not so good.

do let them lodge your report and give them some time to check. CS are not network engineers anyway, they can only assist whenever possible to resolve your matter. wink.gif

Latest update - Change my U SIM as advised by the CS. Still frequent dc. Called them again, then they enquire their technical people, then told me that the new capped is 128Kbps - can use on phone only, not modem. Is that true? Does it means I can just tether it using my phone to use internet whenever they capped my umobile? Never heard os this before.. What I can do now is wait till it resets this coming 1st Dec. Argh... frustrated

yep, confirmed. not sure - they told me that maybe the U SIM faulty and causing lost signal that's why keeps on dc. but after change U SIM, they advise me to use phone instead of modem.
