this is one example of truly die hard fan of iPhone, i respect his loyalty. steve jobs could run out of business without support from people like him.

anyway, most of topline model will get froyo update in coming weeks. i would say this will reduce the fragmentation issue.

and one more thing, i think we will see much more solid OS in Android3.0 soon, at this point i think Android will become more stable and trusted (escp in Corporate/Enterprise segment), who know with the recent "issue" with blackberry, if they will choose Android as a official mobile platform for their company in the future :-)

conclusion, android is getting better and better everyday, while Kentang can still continue with his beloved iPhone and his philosophy.

The mods in these android and windows mobile forums, I can see are open minded. I am a regular at the other iPhone and iPad forums too. If a chap like ken tang would post comments as such there belittling iPhone I can guarantee you his posts will be deleted. The mods there are very strict, sometimes too much. There are few there who take criticisms very personally and will attacked back as if is a great vengeance. I find all android chaps here are more mature. I have commented previously ken tang has every right to his opinion, I said I find him entertaining. Let him rant just ignore him.
I have iPhone, nexus and hd2 all are great, all have their pro and cons. But I can clearly see apple pro guys are more fanatical to the extent of senseless and sometimes nonsensical in their opinions of other platforms. I love all my 3 phones but I only sleep with one. When I am ask by my friends which is better, my answer is always all are best and I will explain each feature to them. Based on my explanation, they can then decide which is best for them.
For those who know me personally I pity those chaps who just like to critiicize just for the sake of it. I always view them as possessing an inferior complex and ranting against others a sign of self importance and self gratification. These I learn after working for the last 35 years with all sorts of personalities. You might consider me an old man who doesn't understand the newer younger generation but the fact is one dun prove own's worth and value by belittling others. Such chaps in my organization will always stay there right at the bottom rung. Such people however will be first class politician. I am guilty of this too when I start to talk about political issues

I agree with this. I don't think Android is for everybody. Sometimes it can be quite frustrating to use. I wouldn't recommend an Android to my mother, whom I know still uses classic candybar phones.

I'm an iPhone developer, but I have a HTC Hero, and I can see there are some things that iPhone does better than Android. The hardware and software is integrated better. The iPhone GUI feels faster, although it lacks Android's customizability.

Depends on what I want ; if I want to read a ebook before i sleep - HD2 : The ebook features and functions is the best of the lot. Both Android and iPhones are way way behind. Music/watching my video podcasts - iPhone. Reading up latest tweets, facebook, RSS feeds, emails, browsing - Nexus
I haver said before, I have the best of all world with me. As a daily phone Nexus. This might change as I am getting the iPhone 4 soon - is a natural progression, when you have something new you'd always want to use it to know it better

Agreed with you, my wife best phone is still her Nokia 1100 - simple as she use it only to call and some SMS. She always says I am more in love with my gadgets than with her !!! She said I crazy - go toilet always bring the phone and now even worse bring iPAD !!

As a developer you are right ; similarly other Android and Windows developer will have own opinions about theirs. The best and most beautiful aspect is , we the consumers will benefit and we have a choice in what we want

yes we do... but how many people actually know what they want?

this is where marketing/advertising people exploit to help sell their products...

ok i'm a just a regular guy like anyone outside there who hasn't landed hands on any smartphones , most of my buddies are using Iphone , so of course i've played with it , but not HTC or any other brands ...

I'm actually deciding whether to get the new Iphone4 or HTC , so i hope forumers here can highlight without me going over so many pages ...

my basic needs for my smartphone gonna be :-

- clear calls , as in voice are sharp and clear
- checking emails are priority
- SMS are priority as well as a communication between client and I ...
- easy to use interface , without me thinking much where to press or where to choose when in need of a function.
- i need to write a lot of short notes especially
- FB and MSN is an added bonus
- durability as well , as i'm always on the go , i do have rough movement at times , so i want the phone to be slightly tougher while in my pocket.

i guess that's all i can think off and i hope ppl who had own both phone can really help me out , i'm not really a tech guy but i prefer a phone that work for me and not vice versa ...

thanks in advance ...

Get the iphone. 3gs should be enough.

Btw, if we refer to the article posted by mr potato, 5.2% of iphone 4 owners reported dropped calls? We know apple sold like 3 million iphones, so 5.2% from 3 million would be, 150000 owners?

i own galaxy S, if you want a phone that have no problem out of the box, i recommend desire. if you want a power phone for gaming also, go for Galaxy S, but probably you need to apply 1 and 2 tweaks to make your phone perfect.

normal user=desire
daring=nexus one
a lil bit more daring nexus= galaxy

PS: i dont own iphone....

in addition to basic phone functions, u use ur fone primarily for business and desire a lot of typing.
since ur not a techie nerd, u won't be bothered to do a lot of customization, constantly seeking upgrades 4 ur fone, and i like ur

based on ur requirements, neither iphone nor android will suit u. i recommend u blackberry curve or bold if u have higher budget.

android battery life is extremely short. if u have many calls or do a lot of activities, it will die within half-day.
and even if u got techno-geek frens to help u download this and that software, optimize battery...u still must constantly carry a charger or 2 or 3 spare batteries (depending on usage) just to last the day.

furthermore, when u have rough movement in the pocket de huge screen of htc desire/moto milestone/samsung will be cumbersome and high risk of damage.
unless of course, ur style is baggy pants wink.gif
but i suppose if u r the suit-wearing type, it is not possible! nod.gif nod.gif

lastly, even though blackberry screen may not be as sharp as androids but it is still readable.

Android battery life should be able to last at least 1 full day for heavy usage

I doubt anyone will need 2 (let alone 3) batteries for a day of usage. Of course, it's a good practise to bring the micro USB cable along in case you need to charge it on your laptop during working hour if you have a long day smile.gif
