Well then..
My friend is using 3GS now..
And 1st thing i ask him is battery usage because this problem even GSMarena team observe about it..
Even till iphone 4, the battery is can't be changed if spoil or what.. Maybe that's why Apple manage to sell millions of their phones?
"battery spoil? Get new one r bro!!"
Yes, my friend only said that if he use his 3GS for phone call for about half an hour sometimes the battery left 50% only..
And then, watch video for half an hour after that, a warning come out to connect the charger..  doh.gif  doh.gif

statistics, like many other thgs is dangerous when put in the hands of ppl who dun understd it.
let me show u how to think on a slightly deeper level,
market share of apple had dipped in Q2 becos news of new model launch made many ppl postpone their purchases.
furthermore like all new models, under-estimating market demand and delays in production further reduce apple's mkt share.

but i expect with the blockbuster launch of iphone4 and if apple can keep up with the production, for sure apple's share will increase in Q3 and Q4.

2ndly, with iphones blazing de trail for touch smartphones, de only way for other vendors to keep up is to use the free android os.
and i must say, it is the right decision.

Geeks have more brand loyalty

A consumer survey reveals that geeks are likely to spend more on the products they like and stay loyal to their favourite brands. Geeks are also more susceptible to advertising ploys and buy more goods online.

The survey, undertaken on behalf of tech website Geeknet and market research agency Forrester Consulting and released July 27, was conducted across the United States, Britain and Germany.

It divided respondents into three categories, "IT Geeks," "tech geeks" and "non-geeks."

IT geeks were defined as working in information technology or other jobs involving hardware or software, while tech geeks don't work in IT but agree that technology is important to them and is something they regularly follow.

The survey found 20% of geeks from both categories agreed that advertisements helped them decide what to buy, compared to only 12% of non-geeks; 25% of geeks purchased the advertised product or service online whereas only 16% of non-geeks did the same.

As well as being more susceptible to advertising, geeks were also more loyal to their favourite brands with 60% of geeks versus 17% of non-geeks agreeing that when they found a brand they liked they "stuck to it."

In addition to brand loyalty, geeks were also more likely to pay more for products they liked and 29% of geeks agreed that "owning the best product is important to me," whereas only 14% of non-geeks thought the same.

With viral advertising campaigns, online supermarkets and phone apps playing an increasingly important role in everyday life, technology is no longer the preserve of a knowledgeable few, but geeks may still be the ones to ask about new innovations - 53% consider themselves "the person who knows more about an interesting trend," while only 22% of non-geeks felt the same way. - Relaxnews

Given the amount of advertising done by Apple, the article posted above proves that a majority of iPhone users are geeks.

from the figure, it is clearly said that iPhone demand will increase in 3rd quarter to 4th quarter every year.. then it will drop again.
but who will going to stop android?
from the figure we can see android will continue increase steadily at a fixed rate, and there is no sign and no factor for the demand to decrease.

same situation war between Mac and Windows in early 90s.. but this time, iphone need to fight with Android (much more "powerful Windows", take not that!)

let me teach u the way of smart thinking...

android was almost zero mkt share last year but becos efforts by htc, motorola, samsung this year had picked up significantly.
of coz, like what i had mentioned, this was bcos android junk is just sailing in the winds behind the mighty apple aircraft carrier.

anyhows there is no reason to say or even think android trend will continue to next year except got historical data to back up.

btw this discussion shld be in a separate thread by itself.

that is why i refer to Mac VS PCs wars.. Microsoft choose to distribute their OS through various manufacturer, at the end Windows won (95% PCs in this world using Windows).. same to Android, Google choose to make it open and distribute it through hp manufacturers (that explain why Google discontinue Nexus One), while iOS will be exclusively for iPhone only.

iOS also be used in iPad, but Android soon will come out with various tablet similar to iPad, then again iOS will lose.

while Android become matured day by day (similar to iOS now version4 already), we will see the real Android strength in 3.0 (Gingerbread) by year end. it just matter of time, android start a little bit late but is catching up very fast :-)

i am not sure why u are so "skeptical" on Android. what is wrong with android? if i may asking you? you look so "uncomfortable" to see android continue to grow and become matured OS.

@kentang_peranchis

What does Android do to piss you off so much until you denounce it?

As a former iOS, Symbian60, SymbianUIQ, WinMo6.1 and current Android user, I know exactly the pro & cons of every of it but I don't diss any of it for the sake of trolling.

I went to iPhone thread, there's a troll.
I went to Symbian thread, there's a troll.
I went to Windows Mobile thread, there's a troll.

None of them gave any constructive reason why it sucks. Instead generalizing the common issues which can be found in all os.

Your reply isn't exactly smart either.

Android is a less rigid alternative to iOS. It's for people and developers who want more freedom. You can't stop something like that. Yes, Android may just be riding on Apple's success, but then everything has to start from somwehere. Even if you want to denounce history of art and create an art no one has done before, you'd still be basing this 'new' art on the history, because only then you'll know what no one has done before. Everything's created based on something. Android was created because of some lacking in all the OSes in the world including iOS. Simple. I think Apple will continue to have marketshare success no so much due to the iOS alone but due to marketing and overwhelming development support. It's not the Holy Grail by a long shot so we shouldn't treat it like it is.

now let me teach u how to think smart..
all OS are getting better and even smarter than their predecessor...
do u have any point why does Google merged with other manufacturers just to meet users' need no matter in what cases, Texas Instruments, Broadcom Corporation, HTC, Intel, LG, Marvell Technology Group, Motorola, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung Electronics, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, PacketVideo, ARM Holdings, Atheros Communications, Asustek Computer Inc, Garmin Ltd, Softbank, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba Corp, and Vodafone Group Plc..
How about Apple and it's iOS? (anyone interested to join with?? Oppsss!! sorry... other company need to 'jailbreak' Apple first.. tongue.gif tongue.gif )
And the fact is.. iOS was unveiled on 2007 while Android 2008..
So, for nowadays figure with Android is climbing a little bit high (don't mention about percentage growing brows.gif ) and late for a year revealed..
Does it make any sense for Google for it own brand and Android tagline "an OPEN OS'??
laugh.gif I don't think Google need any back up in future time being as that number "4" is already going down a bit and so far i know, Apple will only release new OS every once a year which mean they have to fight using iOS4 with upcoming "official" Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 3.0 anyone?? brows.gif brows.gif

kentang_peranchis... Androidianz only have one way of thinking.. Getting faster, reliable and being smart without criticizing other competitor.. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

android is de only viable touchscreen os in de market.
let me explain.
for normal users, considering UI aesthetics, security, function and stability, it is not de best, not even 2nd best.
the best is still iOS and followed by webOS.
4get abt symbian touch n windows mobile.
bcos there is no way for htc, sony ericsson & motorola to get iOS or webOS, the only choice is android, which of course is free.

and of course ppl will buy android bcoz these desperate manufacturers put their best machines to use android. u think normal users gives a rat's arse to customizing, changing fonts, downloading widgets, etc?

no! they bought android bcoz those brands put in hd video, high megapixel, slim to attract customers.

of coz, i foresee android will stop growing and only appeals to techno geeks and nerds. after normal users get fedup with the weak battery life, technical mumbo jumbo, un-natural touch ui.

and every normal user who used iOS b4 simply cannot use android OS.
and the iphone is the most style in de mkt right now. with most selection of apps.

apple is unbeatable and is de best choice for normal users.
but it won't appeal to geeks or nerds who goes crazy over android for its customization.

i realize this guy keep saying apple is the best, iOS the best without giving proper valid point of argument to support it. How can you convince others?

And stop being stereotype , saying ALL android users are geek, techie or wateva you call it. You're just making yourself look shallow, Mr phoneSellerThatKnowsItAll.
