apple is for ppl who appreciates style and simplicity. iphone users have better things to do in their life, and dun spend more than necessary time to 'customize' or tinker arnd wt a fone.
while for android fones, is mainly for geeks and nerds who gets a high from endless tweaking and trying to be different juz for the sake of being different. in other words, pathetic.

which type of person r u? for example, while in the train or waiting in queue,

a) play funny and entertaining games like angry birds or
b) customize ur phone by chge icons, colors, trying different settings, etc?

if u choose (b), it's very clear dat u r a nerd.

it's a statement that suprised me. why wld sumbody need a phone to show off his macho-ness?
anyway, let's not go out of topic.

iphone is for users who have better thgs to do in their life other than spending it customizing de fone, changing the colors, icons, etc.

for nerds who want to do all that, thr's android.

it's all abt choices of what u r.

all smartphones also have issues wt the connectivity. it's only nerds with nothing else better to do in their own lifes, will continue to be so stressed out and make a mountain out of a mold hill.

I like iPhone too for the nice games they have.... biggrin.gif

But I like my Magic too for the tweaks that I can do freely....  biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Now I am only waiting for the 4.3" screen to come out~
*
exactly, now at least this person understands.
dun get me wrong but i'm not running down android, (more than 1 mil sets sold is excellent results).
and i admit i'm not techno-geek, juz a simple smartphone user.

is just that users of iphone and android is very very different;
and it's good dat we actually do have choice. android is same type like winmo in a certain way.
very appealing to geeks and techno-nerds.

apple's iphone has compelled the non techno-geeks and non-nerds to buy smartphones.

Google Discontinues the Nexus One Android Phone

Google has pulled the plug on the Nexus One, its once highly anticipated smartphone. The last shipment has arrived at Google HQ, and once those are gone there will be no more Nexus Ones for U.S. consumers.

The handset will still be sold through Vodafone in Europe and some Asian carriers, and developers will still be able to get their hands on one, but it looks like the Droid phones on Verizon will carry the mantle for Google's Android mobile operating system. This is the end of the company's grand experiment with an unlocked consumer handset in the U.S.

Following disappointing sales, Google had already closed the Nexus One web store two months ago, so this final nail in the coffin was already overdue.

Google announced the end of the line on its blog on Friday, but there was so little fanfare or interest in the story in the tech scene that the story slipped through the cracks. Though the device was popular with geeks, most American consumers probably just didn't understand the concept of an unlocked handset, and Google didn't put much marketing muscle behind the device.

Thus, it's no surprise that the phone has been discontinued and hardly anyone noticed. It's too bad, actually. It was a fine device; it got even finer with the Android 2.2 update a couple of weeks ago.

yes the good thing about android is the choice. u can pick any android phones according to your budget and your liking. and with several manufactures competing with each other, new phones will come sooner when we compare with 1-year cycle of iphone.

anyway, there will always be the appeal for apple stuff, as usual.
*
Choice, yes bcos it's open platform. But very unfortunately, no android maker can match apple in design. Besides, android kenot match iOS in ease of user friendly, wide practical use.

So even tho it seems got more choice, but each choice must compromise or sacrifice sumthg.
If sumhow samsung galaxy screen combine wt htc sense combine wt milestone phonecall clarity combine wt xxx sunlight legibility combine wt xxx app store, den maybe can give iPhone a bit of challenge.

i also hope android can survive if it becomes better and gives more to normal users rather than juz techno-nerds.
the reason why android can born is solely bcos apple changed the world with the introduction of iPhone. without iphone, geeks and nerds now wld only get to play with windows mobile.

unfortunately so far, android still unable to match apple's iOS masterpiece even though it was a seed of apple.

for the normal user who has better and more important thgs to do other than juz playing with fone,
then once u've used the iphone, the only reason u will switch phones is bcoz u wanna go back to buttons fone.

It really looks juicy. but most interestingly is the display to me. the Super AMOLED. gorgeous
*
super amoled cannot be compared to retina display.
this is power of apple.
they focus on the things customers really want.
and make what's important to users the best in the industry.

iphone nothing u can tweek
*
dat's the whole point. android can be tweaked, which drives the geeks and nerds crazy with estacy. but normal ppl won't be bothered.

normal ppl use the phone for easy, beauty.

even until now, no body and not even the android nerds can get the touch keyboard perfectly right like apple does.
there is a app for every need possible.

so if u wanna get touchphone, makes no sense to get anythg other than iphone right?

So is that only what nerds can do but not general public? unsure.gif

nah.
nothing to do with what type of person u r.

but i guess even though with a perfect keyboard, like all thgs there will be some ppl who simply prefer a different type.

that's what makes the world an interesting place!

So what's exactly the point you're making here? You just said Android can't get the keyboard right and now you say it's perfect but you just don't like it.

It's okay to voice out your opinions, but of course back yourself up with some points:
- super amoled can't compare to retina display, this is the power of apple
- unfortunately so far, android still unable to match apple's iOS masterpiece even though it was a seed of apple
- Choice, yes bcos it's open platform. But very unfortunately, no android maker can match apple in design. Besides, android kenot match iOS in ease of user friendly, wide practical use.

All the while you've been saying Android is "not quite there", and Apple iOS/iphone is masterpiece, without any further explanation. It's okay to have preference and brand loyalty, but there's no point to make comparison if you do not have enough technical knowledge on Android to support your view smile.gif For example, you say Android cannot match iOs in user-friendliness - this is very subjective so at least give some elaboration on exactly which area gives you such feeling

No offense dude, I just want to improve the quality of the discussion here, and want to prevent this thread from becoming Apple vs Google war
*
dude, all these points i am sure android users know and realise.
and u misuderstd me. perfect keyboard is iphone but sumbody may dun like it and prefer sumthg inferior like android's build-in keyboard.

-of course everybody knows super amoled is not so high-rez as retina.
retina display is like reading paper writing. summore sunlight legibility of super amoled is terrible.
in country wt bright sunlight like ours, this is important

- i have tried touch interface of desire (android champion) and i really cannot get use to it. it's difficult to type out but the best way to say is that android touch, swipes are feel unnatural, better den winmo however.

- this is proven by the sales.

I think all of you should ignore these kentang chap. It is so obvious he is a diehard Apple iphone chap. He is so brainwashed that nothing is better than iPhone. The more I read his comments the more I pity his mentality. And I am in a good position to say this cos I also have iphone 3GS and had been using the series since the first 2G 8GB model.

Kentang love for the iphone is all due to his NEEDS which he feel the iphone meet it very well BUT he forgot one important thing - not everyone has same needs as him

I am a good example ; repeatedly and repeatedly I have said in this forum, I still rate the iphone 3GS last compared to my Nexus and HTC HD2. Not that the iPhone 3GS is not good, its features DO NOT meet my needs as well as the Nexus/HD2.

I have been using smartphones since the day it was available, OMG about 15+ years ago till now and AGAIN I wish to say there is NEVER a BEST smartphone. The best smartphone is the one which satisfy you most and meet your needs NOT your wants. Maybe the new iPhone 4 will meet my needs better - who knows until I get my hands onto it. But based on its features, I doubt so, perhaps will be my number 2. I'll tell you after I get it end this month
*
all along i've maintained dat android serves a 'special' group of ppl who is think and act different from most other ppl.
but for the majority of ppl, there is iPhone.
so far i've refrained from discussing in-depth specs with techno-geeks simply bcoz once they started, they like to go on and on...

for instance they like to say super amoled is great for viewing videos. but who wld wanna watch a movie on a screen so small? even de normal mtv also difficult.
only geeks who like to show off wld enjoy demo-ing to either themselves or other ppl, juz for de sake of demo-ing.
not practical i wld say.

and android geeks wld love to talk abt how customizable their phone is (chge themes-lar, fonts, etc.).
the only reason why anyone wld customize it is bcoz it is so good as the iPhone.
remember, apple has a large group of smart ppl dedicated to develop the hardware and software to provide a handphone that is the best on the planet.
only apple is able to do it, with their creative culture set up by Mr. Steve Jobs.

on the other hand, google juz throws the android at a bunch of geeks and watch them go wild.
how can they ever match apple?
even big company like htc (taiwanese oem maker), samsung (home appliance maker), motorola (failed handphone company) can even fight with apple?

in conclusion, the life u lead is abt choices, if u love android, i have never insulted ur choice.
if u love iphone, all i'm saying that ...well its a choice u will never ever regret.

cheers and signing off

let's go back to the beginning of the question to conclude the answer.

why shld i switch from iphone to HTC (Android)?

let's define htc as legend, or desire
u r a geek or nerd who
- loves to tweaking, customize ur phone, chge the theme, colors, fonts, etc.
- enjoys showing off de customized fone interface to ur frens n relatives.
- always carry arnd a spare charger
- loves to wear baggy pants wink.gif

plz read carefully.
i'm talking abt legend or desire.

abt ur 3 days usage, firstly using desire or legend?
secondly, i'm sure u wld've downloaded some nifty program for it. but as u know, de average user doesn't do that and cldn't be bothered.
that's y iphone with its superior battery life is de better choice if u dun want to carry the charger along.
