ok i'm a just a regular guy like anyone outside there who hasn't landed hands on any smartphones , most of my buddies are using Iphone , so of course i've played with it , but not HTC or any other brands ...

I'm actually deciding whether to get the new Iphone4 or HTC , so i hope forumers here can highlight without me going over so many pages ...

my basic needs for my smartphone gonna be :-

- clear calls , as in voice are sharp and clear
- checking emails are priority
- SMS are priority as well as a communication between client and I ...
- easy to use interface , without me thinking much where to press or where to choose when in need of a function.
- i need to write a lot of short notes especially
- FB and MSN is an added bonus
- durability as well , as i'm always on the go , i do have rough movement at times , so i want the phone to be slightly tougher while in my pocket.

i guess that's all i can think off and i hope ppl who had own both phone can really help me out , i'm not really a tech guy but i prefer a phone that work for me and not vice versa ...

thanks in advance ...

Get the iphone. 3gs should be enough.

Btw, if we refer to the article posted by mr potato, 5.2% of iphone 4 owners reported dropped calls? We know apple sold like 3 million iphones, so 5.2% from 3 million would be, 150000 owners?

hmmm not going to get something outdated .. hehe , since got a choice a new phone to replace my current one.

i'm going 2 have intensive reading of Desire and IP4 ... desire seems to have the upperhand

thanks for the explanation in detail especially , i'm kinda skeptical with samsung no offence , as i read somewher that although the OS is by android but samsung's integrated software is not that feasible ...

or i could be wrong , so it will stand on
ip4 vs desire vs sgs

that why i said with SGS you need to do about 1 or 2 tweaks or update it to a stable firmware, so it will be perfect (IMO), before i buy i also see people afraid of buying it cause samsung have a poor record in supporting software, but i was kinda wrong, alot of firmware have been roll out, got one time, in a week 3 firmware come out.. sure it got bugs here and there, so does desire and iPhone 4. but i can still use it with ease on daily based.

if you a kinda guy like to buy a phone and then just forget about updating the firmware, i think desire is more suitable, as it is more stable out of the box.

iphone 4, i dont know

yes u truly hit the point , my work doesnt evolve around the computer , so i wont have so much time to update myself on new apps and such , so i would prefer something without much hassle out of the box and ready to hit the day with me ...

learning to use a smartphone is a definite , albeit i had one last time , the 02 executive with windows platform , that didnt last long for me b4 i got rid of it and going back to my old SE K750i , but nowadays i'm limited to the wide usage of internet while on the go ... therefore i would prefer something steady , reliable and price wise competitive , i think now it just boils down to

Desire or IP4 ,
RM2050(sg set) for the ip4 and rm2199 for desire(local set) ... both share the close usage of my need , but desire lacked in the 16gb although i can always upgrade it. ah well , best is get out there and try both phones , i can do it for the HTC but ip4 ... let me get a person who has it and test it out ...

you guys been very helpful but i guess i've made up my mind , now after have the fundamental understanding of android OS , i'm not really a geek person who can spent some time doing reading and researching ,

out of the box , and straight to the point i guess i have to favor more to ip4 on that , thanks for all the feedbacks but one day if it permits i will try the android ...

really appreciate the comments and suggestions ...
