I don't think anybody knew of what the GTX460 would be like two weeks ago. First posts about it that I noticed was on the 10th, and the news embargo was only lifted on the 12th. If I were in your shoes, I probably would have bout a HD 5770 also.

I wouldn't bother to CF the cards. You're getting acceptable performance right now, aren't you? Also, there is the HD 6000 series coming out later this year. Maybe three more months or less if we're lucky. I've no clue on what is the expected delivery date of the HD 6000 series.

i just dun feel satisfy if there is a card with the same price can pwn mine

i know AMD got many product lining up

GTX460 really caught us surprised to to Fermi's reputation for power,heat and noise.Besides,your HD5770 is still fast isn't it?Keep it for now adn see how the landscape changes these few months first

the gtx460 is definitely better than the 5770 ,5830 and even 5850 on some levels. wow i really intended to purchase the 5770 around this week.
since the 460 ill change my plans for it.

AMD will drops 5770, 5830 after mass availability of 460. By the way, 460 lack of any triple monitors setup, do consider the 1GB version than 768MB. Isn't 5770 only at 575myr?

You could even get 5770 at less than 560 bucks already.

Gtx 460's pricing offers more performance than 5770/ 5830 based on reviews.

I'm holding back my previous statement that 5850 may drop. Don't think so I guess. It could be the 5770/ 5830 price may drop. We shall see in the next few months.

I just notice that SAPPHIRE HD5770 1GB D5 is RM550 from compu-zone.com

But SAPPHIRE HD5830 1GB D5 256BIT is RM865

I don't think any threat from 460 until it mass availability, by then, HD5830 may be around RM700, the price level that I hope for.

Anyway I will save RM800 for a card. It would takes 1-2 months so I still got some time to see how the market goes.

but i guess as usual, the first 2 months when it enters Malaysian market, the price will be high.. so dont take that USD price for granted lol

I hope AMD develop their physics and GPGPU applications to a better support, not just for gaming. Not everytime I play game.

I know you feel compelled to CF'ed the 5770 out of disappointment, but chill out a bit, no need to go that far ATM...


Anyways congrats to Nvidia because this is actually the first 'real' attack that do have a considerable impact to the Red Camp...the GTX 460...

The only contender I could of that could rival the GTX460 is a 'priced-dropped' HD5830, but I they (ATI) have to revised the whole architecture of the PCB (currently using 5870 PCB) and circuitry to cut cost so it's possible to reduce the price,
but regardless of that, the 5830 should or MUST have reduce the price long ago, this is true even before the launch of GTX460...

Well good thing there's isn't much 5830 owners (or are there? ) to fill disappointed getting that card anyways, but it's ATI's fault in the first place for leaving a big gap between 5770 and 5850 to be exploited by Nvidia, (the 5830 wasn't a good enough excuse to fill that GAP)
the GTX460 move was smooth as silk, (it was too easy anyways, the gap was huge and exploitable) ...a complement to Nvidia for now...

.....ATi will change ur mind to: 5850 is to compete GTX460......

ATi CAN do that, but Nvidia's GTX460 will leech on the 5830 soo closely & tightly that this move from ATi will not suffice much benefit for them....

So in the end, the 5830 is just plain hopeless, and borderline useless...UNLESS price drop!!! (I suggest RM675~ish)
