Lucky I purchase 5870 rather than 5830 or 5850, or else now I should be regretting not to wait for few months more...
Catalyst 10.6 driver is around the corner. Rumours said that the driver will be released by Wednesday. Main point is the VLC on GPU support. Thinking of changing my player from media player classic to VLC player. One more thing need to ask. Can 5870 graphic card crossfire with eyefinity version of 5870? Both chipsets are same right? If not mistaken, that's not CCC 10.6 WHQL(last month). This month is CCC 10.7 WHQL. Catalyst 10.6 driver is around the corner. Rumours said that the driver will be released by Wednesday. QUOTE(JoBigShow @ Jul 16 2010, 08:42 AM) Galaxy GeForce GTX 460 Super OC 1GB really fast eh u guys reply This GC, priced only at RM775, OWNED the stock 5850! I've check most benchmarks such as on Tweaktown, Tom's HW, etc. and this GC is either equal or a tad bit faster than the 5850 default clocks... What does this means? I will reconsider what I said before about the 5850 would not have a price drop because it desperately needs it to counter these premium OC'ed GTX460's... Of course a 900mhz/1200 @ 1.15v OC'ed HD5850 can beat the OC'ed GTX460 without the slightest of a doubt, but the GTX460 already proves that it has thread into the 5850's (stock) territory...while being approx. RM200 cheaper! Oh about the hopelessly and almost non-contributory 5830, that cards needs to drop the price waay lower, almost close to the current 5770 price while the 'bang~for~the~bucks' 5850 indeed needs to drop the price a bit, (and don't forget price drop for the 5770 as well, Cross-Fire!!!!!) With these three cards having a drop in their price, ATi will for sure counter big time any Nvidia's ploy to win over the GC market... haha, I miss this price war...consumers are smiling again after more than half a year of Red domination... well, if compared 5850 oc'ed and 5870, also differ around that rm200 price rite? y dont compare oc'ed with oc'ed?? AMD Reaffirms Plans to Introduce Second-Generation DirectX 11 Family of Chips in 2010. Sixteen Million of DirectX 11 Graphics Chips Shipped - AMD [07/15/2010 10:50 PM] by Anton Shilov Advanced Micro Devices said that its ATI graphics business unit has shipped over sixteen million of DirectX 11-compatible graphics processing units and reiterated plans to introduce second-generation DirectX 11 graphics chips later in 2010. Besides, despite rumours, AMD expects supply constraints to ease in the second half of the year. "Demand for our GPU offerings in the quarter was very strong, and shipments were temped only by supply constraints. This was the second straight quarter of record GPU shipments, led by an 18% sequential increase in notebook discrete units. More than half of our GPU shipments in the quarter were DirectX 11-capable and [so far] we have shipped nearly 16 million DX11 GPUs to date," said Dirk Meyer, chief executive officer of Advanced Micro Devices, during the quarterly conference call with financial analysts. AMD announced revenue for the second quarter of 2010 of $1.65 billion, a net loss of $43 million, or $0.06 per share, and operating income of $125 million. The company reported non-GAAP net income of $83 million, or $0.11 per share, and non-GAAP operating income of $138 million. ATI's revenue increased 8% sequentially and 87% year-over-year to approximately $470 million, which is higher than GPU revenues received by ATI when it was independent back in 2006. The sequential increase was driven by record GPU unit shipments, partially offset by a decrease in average selling price. The year-over-year increase was driven by an increase in GPU shipments and ASP. Operating income was $33 million, compared with $47 million in Q1 2010 and a loss of $17 million in Q2 2009. AMD also reaffirmed plans to introduce the next-generation ATI Radeon HD 6000-series graphics processors in 2010. However, this time AMD did not say that it planned to refresh the whole lineup, but only promised to debut some of the novelties. "In the second half of the year, we expect GPU demand to remain healthy and supply constraints to ease. We remain on track to bolster our GPU leadership with the introduction of our second-generation DirectX 11 graphics products later this year. [...] We will start introducing the second-generation of our DX 11 products before the end of the year," said Mr. Meyer. This post has been edited by zonan4: Jul 17 2010, 10:56 AM |
