I found ten-gro selling something similar which I really like .. in sets of six and purple in colour. however they are out of stock .. there are green colour available but not really nice I tried searching in other shops near that area but was not able to find something similar.. If anyone knows where I can purchase this, please let me know. Just trying my luck in case anyone while shopping around spotted these before. thanks |

QUOTE(nookie188 @ Mar 11 2012, 07:35 PM) head down to any of the light shops, u get many varieties there, but chances r you won't get high end ones, just normal ones. but they will do, just choose those with plain white frames, will match your interior better, rather than those with all the frills. but do keep note that 4" will better fit 1 bulb, coz if fit 2, than lifespan of bulb shorten caused by heat. 1 bulb will not be bright enuf, so need to have more lights. to hv longer lasting bulbs, use PLC with ballast. use good quality ballast like Sova, Solex or Luxram. normal brands will hum after some time. but if u 1 easy fixing, then use screw bulbs. |

For those interested in LED recessed light, I have them installed at my house. Back last year, it cost me RM125 a piece including delivery from China. It is a 12W version with option for warm or day light. If you prefer to get from a local shop, you can purchase at Perfect Lighting at Uptown Damansara. it cost around RM180, but it may be cheaper this year.
Just as an example, my living hall is roughly around 16' x 16'. I have 4 sets of LED recessed light installed which translate into 4 x 12W = 48W which produce enough brightness to have a nice R&R. Spacing wise, I have them around 6' apart each other and 3'-4' from either side of the wall. Before you go to shop, do not purchase those LED recessed light where the LED is visible on the recessed light. Get those that are frosted, so it does not look so obvious. Also, the newer version has a very slim profile less than 2 inches thick instead of those with huge heat sink. Don't go for the type below if you want an aesthetic look and feel Go for the type below instead. They have various sizes, round, square and rectangular. I chose the rectangular one instead. Another thing is, if you notice the casing is white colour, so it is fits nicely on plaster ceiling where it looks seamless. However, do not it is alot more harder to remove the recessed down from the plaster ceiling compared to conventional down light where you only need to replace the bulb. Added on March 13, 2012, 10:19 amFor those that want the conventional type, chose and down light casing with e27 and purchase those with e27 adapter. I believe a 3W bulb will set you back around RM35, but due to the lower wattage, more down light needs to be placed, perhaps 4' apart each other for maximum brightness. I also use these for my kitchen and toilet. The good thing about these type, if the bulb does burn out, just need to climb and unscrew and replace. Thanks Alachan and dchk for sharing the info.
The one i saw in the lighting show is square type around 1'x1' and i think around 3cm thick. Something as below DCHK: What's the dimension of your LED panel? If you use the LED panel as your main source of lighting, do you use other lights in living room? like wall wash or task lightning? My living room + dinner area is around 330 sq feet. QUOTE(jayjay11 @ Mar 13 2012, 11:07 AM) Thanks Alachan and dchk for sharing the info. For my living hall, I have a cove lighting but I am using T5 light. Since the length is 16', I use x T5 4', but hardly use as I prefer LED. 1 piece of T5 4' is already 32W. So, you can make your calculation on electric consumption. The one i saw in the lighting show is square type around 1'x1' and i think around 3cm thick. But only thing is I am hardly at home, so I cannot compare with normal daily usage. This post has been edited by dchk: Mar 13 2012, 11:55 AM |

Just to give you a sample, when I was doing renovation, I asked my contractor to place 2 unit of LED recessed light with warm light in the master bedroom. See pic. However, for my living hall, I installed 4 LED recessed light with day light but I don't have the actual picture.
