Brod, I have a noobie question here.

Today I just bought a Samsung hdd to be fixed inside the POHD. Unscrewed behind lid and then fix the hdd on the lid, screw it and then trying to fix it into the POHD but found that the space is too small for my HDD to be go into the poh. As I'm frustrated, finally I'm ended up just put the HDD inside the pohd and screw the cover without screw the hdd on the lid.

What bout you guys? have you encountered the same situations as mine? Do you screw the hdd onto the lid or just put your hdd inside the pohd?

I got my PlayonHD mini two days ago. I manage to connect it with my WD Mybook World Edition NAS. But I still have problems getting the subtitles to work. The movies played flawlessly, but I couldn't turn on the subtitles.

I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong with the subtitles format.

Movie Name (Year).avi
Movie Name (Year).srt

Both of the files are in the same folder, and of course together with all the other movie files I got. Still, I couldn't get the subtitles to work. When I press the "subtitles" button, the OSD appeared with subtitle in OFF mode, and there is no way I can get it turned ON.

got my playon big + 2TB hdd. thing is, on booting, always got this [format hdd] option .. i got 2TBs of movies, hv to always click [cancel].

n cant seem to connect to torrent download, my playon is wired to the wireless adsl modem tho.

One day you accidently format your 2TB of movies you gonna cry.

i think when u first u got HDD u didnt format it with pohd. if not i guess u need to redo it (format using pohd) or theres an option (go to acryan forum - how to section), how to create partition etc.

if possible try to format using firmware 1402 because with this samba and bt is automatically installed in the HDD. whereas later version of firmware 2388 and above, u need to install the additional service pack in order for you to use bt and browse your pohd in your network.

currently i have 2tb samsung install at the pohd formatted with 2901 so everytime (basically i like to toy around with the firmware) i update pohd firmware i need to reinstall the additional service pack whereas my other 1.5 which i format using 1402 firmware i dont have to install the service pack.

currently the best firmware i'm using in my environment is 3875.

p/s: careful when turning on your pohd if u didnt format it using pohd coz like ngto said one day u might accidently deleted (format) your hdd.

act the 2TB HDD was preppd by my playon seller. playon + samsung 2TB + 200++HD Movies, mix of mkv, BD ISO.... got it for rm940.

yuo found the solution @ playon firum, hv to slave the playon with a oc n partition magic. m currently out of town nao... just hv time to watch the preinstalld HD movues, no time to fiddle yet.... thts y torrent oso not working... bt overall veli satisfied. used to hookd up my laptop to the tv, nao hv playon,....

ok share with us the outcome.....if too troublesome...reformat using pohd is only choice....

Finally figured out the problem. This problem only occurs when I browse in UPnP mode. But if I used Network or NFS mode, no problem at all, subtitles work perfectly.

By the way, is there a function to adjust the time delay and advance if the audio and video don't sync?

Nop, it is file porblem. You need to use software to adjust it. A bit complicated. But srt can be sync under subtitle button.

Follow the instructions below to update your Firmware for the Playon!HD:

Standard updating of firmware

1. Download the latest firmware from our download section or our latest beta version from our forums.
2. Unzip your downloaded zip onto an empty USB stick. Make sure that the files within the zip are unzipped within the root of the USB stick.
3. Put your USB stick into one of the USB ports of the Playon!HD.
4. Startup your Playon!HD if it not already on.
5. In the menu, go to Setup, choose System, then go to System Update and select the option System Upgrade.
6. Your Firmware Update will now be progressed. Do not shup down your Playon!HD while the Playon!HD is processing your Firmware Update. The Playon!HD will reboot automatically.
7. After the Playon!HD has rebooted, your new Firmware is installed.


If you are unable to access your main menu, please proceed as follows (this also installs the extensions):

Safe-Mode Reflash

1. Download the latest firmware from our download section or our latest beta version from our forums, also download the extensions.
2. Unzip your downloaded zips onto an empty USB stick. Make sure that the files within the zips are unzipped within the root of the USB stick.
3. Disconnect the power cable from the Playon!HD.
4. Put your USB stick into one of the USB ports of the Playon!HD.
5. Push the power button and hold it pushed.
6. Connect your power cable again.
7. Hold the power button pushed until you get a screen which says that the firmware is updating.
8. Do not release the power button between the time of connecting the power cable and the appearing of the screen.
9. After firmware update the Playon!HD will reboot itself, with the extensions installed and you're done.

i'm not sifulah but i do acknowledge that i play around with pohd. in fact i have tested almost 95% in the acryan how to section (from tweaking speed to enabling service) hehehe....just to get the best out of it.

So, what is the more stable firmware up to date?

the best firmware in my setup currently is 3875.

my current firmware is way old back..... few generations behind.

I should not have any concern to jump directly to 3875 right?

Which 5.1 surround sound quality is better? between HDMI vs optical connection? I'll be streaming .mkv movies

yes. but if the internal HDD is formatted with later version 2388 then u might need to reinstall the additional service pack.

p/s: to be safe please unplug your internal HDD prior to flashing / upgrading / downgrading firmware.

then in pohd under setup / audio u need to set HDMI RAW.

But without optical, how can the AVR separate the sound channels? The only HDMI connection into the amp is from TV, not the POHD itself..

duh! Better connect your POHD HDMI to AVR ... AVR to TV. And try to understand HT 101 basics. It's very simple actually ...

bro, sorry your HTIB is not capable of handling 5.1 from pohd. it will downmix to 2 channel stereo. i just ran thru the manual. suggest u get proper AVR to do this like most of us.

i was wondering does this ACRyan support BD-ISO??

just purchased a unit for myself. hehehe...

The current FW 3875 got some glitch with BD ISO. You will experience stuttering with some titles and loss of sound. BDMV got no problems.

Wait for upcoming FW next week to see if the ISO problem is fixed.

ooo icc....wat is BDMV?? BD ISO comes with True HD audio rite?? and i thought ACRyan does not support True HD audio??

btw....wat is the 1080P 24FPS under the Video Settings?? shud this be ON or OFF??

BDMV is the full Folder and File Structure extracted out from ISO. It's the same actually.

For the older POHD with the 1073DD chipset , you can play the movie from BDMV or ISO, but you won't get HD Audio of course, just Core DTS extracted from DTS-MA.

For True HD, sadly you won't get any sound. Fortunately, True-HD titles are much less compared to DTS-MA titles.

But since you newly bought your POHD unit, chances are it's using the new 1073DD C+ chipset. This means it can handle HD Audio, but the problem is will AC Ryan be willing to pay for the license to enable it in future FW? That's the Big question.

As for the 24fps feature, your TV must support 24FPS in order to play at that framerate. Don't turn that on if your TV does not support.

Just bought POHD mini at digital mall yesterday very satisfied with pix and sound performance.........

Bought the mini last 2 days. sometimes can't play MkV and unable to play .mp4 files.

Some 720 files slight lag when moving/action.

anything i can do ?? harddisk issues or the files problem ?

Added on July 20, 2010, 8:53 amIt may due to file problem or hard disk problem. Have you scan disk periodically and fix the corruption files in MBR? Just like car, hard disk need to do maintainence also. Come for workshop to learn more and ask Eugene about this question.

Bro ralli_art, you can ask about HD Audio question and when can AC Ryan gain the licence at workshop. We need your participantion to stress more on AC Ryan to speed up the process of HD Audio pass thru. If waiting for me to ask, power not enough wor. Come come, let force A C Ryan to look seriously on certain issue we need most ya.

Yes Bro, when you playing thru laptop, if got problem on the hard disk sector, it will pass by and continue the running. But media player do not have this command and will hang at there. Anyway, have to thoroughly check your files and hard disk b4 come to conclusion. So, you have to check disk first by using MS command ya.

We recommand using A.C.Ryan wifi. Although a bit high price but quality and performance is certained. Tips: come to workshop and use the gift voucher.

It's been repeated so many times already.

Refer post #1, check for Audio Format Supported

if not mistaken anything DTS-XX (MA/ES/HD) will be downmix to core DTS. Older generation of AVR should be able to pick it up.

Unless u want full HD sound then u need a newer chip POHD (wait for firmware) and AVR that support full DTS-HD and TrueHD

D-Link DWA-130 also got lot of version..not all using Realtek..so have to be careful..

1. is that DTS-XX (MA/ES/HD) same as lossless (actually dont know much what meaning of lossless )? my pren told me that lossless=very good.

2. is there any big different between core dts and lossless sound?

recently i just downloaded a movie with ass file(Soft Subs)
i try loading it in the acryan but it just wont load ...
i double checked and all the names are the same.. when i watch on pc.. i could see the sub..but when i load it on acryan..i could not turn it on at all?
anybody got a solution?

sigh...too bad it only apply to those who bought in April 2010....I bought this end of last year....

Don't be disappointed because you need latest Amp and good speakers to enjoy HD audio which will cost you another >RM5K. The old version still can support DTS pass thru which is good enough for normal people as us lor. Btw, if you want to know more about HD Audio info and other functions of POHD, pls join us for the fun workshop ya. Free gift will be given out and you may win away new DVR wor.

Cheap HD Audio Amp only around RM1.5K, maybe less. As for speakers up to individual tastes

Old POHD if you play Dolby TrueHD = No sound
