i've just got AC Ryan Essential with a 2TB hard disk in it. I am using a mac, and i can't seem to connect to the internal hard drive. Pls help. TQ

in file manager, select the file n press CONFIRM button. the file editing menu for copy, delete n move will appear. but my problem is the subtitle file .srt were not appeared in the file manager, so i cannot copy the .srt file via usb external Hard disk

got it, you're my life saver!
i remember can copy standalone srt file in older versions but can't do that since r4824. as said previously, only way is to copy the whole folder with srt inside.

oh... one more thing i found - screen saver does not work when you pause during a movie. it'll work only if you stop it.

as i toy with r3966 more, i seem to like it now. just different. some of the menus are embedded deep inside, not like older versions.
navigation speed, i find it faster than r4824 (autoscan off). much of the jerky moments are gone. overall it's smoother - at least for the simple stuff that i'm using it for.

pohd1 and mni1 have only 4 green buttons - rwd/fwd/next/prev.

Updated to the latest firmware on my Playon!HD Mini 2, what I can say is so far so good without any issues. Only thing I noticed is that there is some slight delay for it to turn off upon pressing the power button on the remote, when I press it, seems to have a slight delay of few seconds before it turns off.

Previously it turned off almost instantly upon pressing the power button but nothing serious here.

Hi. I'm sorry if i ask again. I've read in AC Ryan forum that Essential can be a PC slave when connected to a PC. Problem is when i connect to my Mac and also PC, i can't see the internal drive.

Is it faulty or do i need to get a new firmware?

BTW, for your info, i just got the Essential on the last saturday.
The Internal Hard drive is already been formatted using the AC Ryan.

connecting the unit w/int hdd via usb to pc is just like connecting an ext powered hdd to a pc.
power is on? you used right cable?

Yes, i'm using the right cable. That's why i'm lost.
When i connect my mac or pc to Essential, the logo will appear on the TV screen and stay there until i remove the usb cable.
But on my mac or pc, i can't find the HDD.

PC connected to player connected to TV? Why do you do that?
Usually it is player-TV or player-PC. Think it only function in one mode, not both.
What if you connect just player to PC or Mac - can you read the HDD inside the player?

Coz Player oledi connected to TV. I can use an external hard disk to copy to the internal drive.
But when i connect PC using usb, i cannot detect the HDD from my PC. Strange huh!

Anyway i will try disconnecting from TV and see. Will update. Many Thx

are you sure the power is on.

Yes, the power is on. On the pc, there is alert saying something abt cannot read hard drive or something like that.
On the mac, nothing.

Anyway i will try again tonite with another USB cable. Hope is the cable

all clear now...the problem is the player is connected to both tv and pc - can't have it both at same time.
only one mode at a time - either the player is on playback mode or it's on hdd-pc mode.
can't have movie playing and you delete the file with the pc!

Yay. It works. I disconnect from tv and use a new USB cable. Thank you very much AVFAN.

mac and ac ryan dont mix..anyway mac with many windows product also dont mix. i using pohd 2 normally transfer from imac using router. if plug in directly it wont detect. so for ur case the best is using windows notebook or pc. lucky i still have my windows notebook around.

Actually after changing my cable, I have no problem connecting to ACryan. And best of all after installing 3G nfts, I can copy from my mac to a nfts drive

ok, been playing with the pohd1 and mini1 with r2966 for a few days now.
for those still undecided to upgrade firmware, i suggest you go ahead.
remember just turn off autoscan and turn on clear history.
r2966 is superior to r4824 - it is stable, faster and smoother.
i think the numerous complaints in acrforum is because the navigation is quite different - just need to get used to it.
