But without optical, how can the AVR separate the sound channels? The only HDMI connection o the amp is from TV, not the POHD itself..
*
duh! smile.gif Better connect your POHD HDMI to AVR ... AVR to TV. And try to understand HT 101 basics. It's very simple actually ...

never updated for a long while maybe few mths

i updated firmware to latest one but still cant play

new MKV files which i never played on POHD b4 but i can play the said MKV file on the pc.......
*
So far I have 2 1080p mkv files failed to play on ACR. One (6GB) can play but lots of pixelation. The other one (9GB) just rebooted the ACR everytime attempting to play smile.gif All 720p files can play. Some 1080p with lower bitrates can play. Firmware updated to latest. All files located in USB HDD.
Otherwise, POHD mini is one heck of a media player. Which media player can play 40Mb/s BD ISO? Got a?

Most of Media players can since most using the same series of Realtek or Sigma chipsets smile.gif

Anyway as far as latest FW 3875 (Big POHD) is concerend , BD.ISO now got playback issues, stuttering and sound breakup after a few minutes of playing (varies with diff titles). Previous FW 2901 didn't have issues with BD.ISO.

Hope they fix it in next FW.

I'm gonna bring my HDD to test these high bitrates mkv on the new POHD mini at the HUB soon. I read somewhere that since April they had new chipset that supports HD sound... hopefully high bitrates capability too. My set was from Jan this year.

Bro
My mini unit bought in Feb cannot play big 1080p mkv files like 8GB size and above. Use USB HDD and Firmware is latest. When select file to play, the system hangs and rebooting. Any solution? Tq.

box bro. i bundled my Mini with acryan wifi dongle but i cant seem to stream 1080p movies thru wifi. is there any setting that i hv to adjust?
*
Max bitrate thru the dongle is 5Mbps if not mistaken (if using fixed IP). If your movie has higher bandwidth, you cannot stream to your pohd lor. If use wired LAN, can get utpo 25Mbps. Better use powerline LAN if distance is far from router.

tat means theres no way i can ever stream full hd movie over the air rite?hmm then wats the point of having wireless N router n ACRyan dongle. isit juz for transferring datas?  blink.gif
*
Dude, I read in POHD forum that the limited bitrate via the USB adapter was due to POHD design flaw. N wifi can go as fast as 300Mbps theoritically, so the problem must be on the POHD. POHD is great but not perfect, still can't do many things. Maybe the newer generation chipset can address the issues.

er.... for tat one, i got the tvix 6500 for that la biggrin.gif

sorry, im biased la, this player really sucks bro

Last sunday i went to viewnet to test 2 mkv files on the brand spanking new POHD Essential and Mini (with new chipset I suppose). These 2 files I have problem to play on my current pohd mini. To my disappointment, both pohds still can't play those 2 files. I then tested the WD Live... viola, it played both files faultlessly. I terus bought the WD Live la. I like pohd GUI interface and remote better but it still have problems playing bigger mkv files. Apa la.

are u on the correct fw before u update?
did u unzip the file n put it on root of the thumbdrive?
*
Yea, better read the correct firmware before upgrade. I misread the notice and during upgrade, my Ryan crashed dead. Reflashing did not work even using the factory fw. Now in the repair center. Hopefully they give a new m/board if they also cannot fix it. What a stupid upgrade process. The upgrade process should have been denied if the fw level is not correct to start with.

I upgraded to new firmware yesterday. Not much changes on the GUI itself. I able to watch some of the mkv files which previously failed and the the seek function during playback is working again.
*
Can it play mkv file with high reframe rate ( > 15 )? Thanks.

hi box builder, thanks for the kind words
im not looking for something high end, im just looking for something that works without hassle, frankly with all the media players avaialble now in the market, i would expect ac ryan would establish themselves better

i hope the new players would serve future customers better, cos i aint gonna be one of em
*
Agree with you bro. I don't need a high end player either. But this ryan doesn't seem to play most of the 1080p files bigger than 8GB.
The cheaper competitor can play everything thrown at it, even the 1080p x2 (3D) mkvs.

Hi pal, it seems that something wrong either with hard disk or files. Because we hv tested a lot of mkv files, even original bluray ripped files, POHD play smoothly. Can u double check what go wrong? We are here to help u pal.

'Branded' it means this company does more than others, try every effort to get the thing better, more quality and most of the people accept it and it becomes well-known. These all involve expenses and a price must pay. So, we are living around with branded and non-branded goods and services. If we can afford, of course, we will seeking better goods and services. So, there is nothing wrong with 'branded' items. Don't forget, Bro YangXi always introduces his goods and services, and he is doing a branding process. Let's don't critize the 'branded', who know, one day, u are the 'brand'. tongue.gif

I was planning on buying a second POHD but the several units tested in the shop failed to play all the sample files I brought in. They were embarrassed badly. Then I asked to play on "the other" brand player, and it played all of them smoothly. To be honest, I give up already. Too bad, coz the interface and features are so good.
Maybe 10 years later I will revisit POHD smile.gif

A.C.Ryan major shortcoming ,

doesn't support APE audio format.
*
I don't care if it supports APE or MONKEY audio or not smile.gif As long as it supports all my high reframe 1080p mkvs without a cough even viaLAN, I would be more than happy. Will check in LY tomorrow with my HDD to test.
