by compatible with Astro Byond do you mean schedule recording?

someone in lyn is selling media player with composite input, korean Telechips TCC8901 chipset, I think it can record SD video but obviously can't automatically change channel to do recording

since the media payer has only composite video input, it can only record SD video, max resolution is 576i, as I understand byond has composite video out, so this player can record whatever video signal is output through byond composite video, byond will downgrade HD signal to SD signal when composite video out is used

you can even use capture card or usb stick together with your computer to capture SD video from any source with composite video output

for HD recording, I think you will need component video capture card team up with HDfury2(a device to convert HDMI HDCP protected signal to component video singal)

any recording device can record byond composite video output, unlike HDMI it is not protected, it is only SD resolution of 576i my guess is that it is not worth protecting, so far in the video industry composite video signal has never been encrypted

do you still have working VHS tape recorder? you can use it to record, or camcorder with video input, can also be used to record
