QUOTE(THEALB10N @ Jun 1 2010, 06:00 PM) It's a shame for those who traded in their astro max boxes. Keeping it would have saved them MYR420. Does anyone have any details on the device astro is selling so you don't need to lay 2 cables? I just did up my TV room and the sat cable is behind the fixed cabinet. I can't add another if I do choose to get the new box to use a single cable with dual-tuner PVR, you must use a device called Stacker-De-stacker (SDS), apparently it will cost your RM300

first time I heard harddish are designed to reboot it self, not very useful as a data storage
seagate last year actually manufactured flaws hard drives that can freeze for 30 second during operation and lost all the data, I bet it cost millions to retify

QUOTE(aceedburn @ Jun 2 2010, 11:18 AM) yeah, but most of us already have the new byond dish....so the 300 bucks is just for changing a new lnb and and additional 20meters of cable? minus install fee of RM80, Rm220 for lnb +cable is still very expensive

QUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ Jun 2 2010, 12:41 PM) there are two USB ports - can you hook up two hard drives at a time? is there a USB port on the dual-tuner PVR unit, and (... you know what's coming next) from PVR-FAQ QUOTE Am I restricted to only one hard disk? Or can I use two hard disks simultaneously? No. You can purchase multiple Western Digital My Passport AV 320GB External Hard Disk Drive and use it interchangeably with the same Astro B.yond box for your own media library. Note that you cannot connect two Western Digital’s My Passport AV 320GB External Hard Disk Drive at the same time simultaneously. The correct USB connection for Western Digital’s My Passport AV 320GB External Hard Disk Drive is the USB port at the back of the Astro B.yond box. WD My Passport AV 320GB could be using this drive

firmware update for byond box is free, but you will have to pay RM5/month for recording function, and buy WD external USB harddrive, specifically WD My Passport AV 320GB

none of astro SD channels are in wide screen format even they are available, don't know astro's reasoning, may be to appease old customers with ancient decoders

QUOTE(minimize @ Jun 2 2010, 06:38 PM) For information, WD My Passport AV 320GB is the only drive that compatible with Sony Video Recoder. Maybe this HDD is special. I think the bare disk is this, got silk-stream technology, support up to 5 simultaneous HD stream

@sioe what brand and model AVR you are using, may be just the simple setting in AVR
or power cycle your byond box (ie. off - wait 10 seconds - on), could fix the problem
