Yes..there are certain EPL matches chosen by Sky Sports in the UK that has been and will be in 3D..
In the Uk last season, the 3D matches were only available in pubs and clubs..
Only this season they will be gradually conveying it into households..
So I guess the matches that 3D will on Sky Sports will also be available on Astro.. icon_idea.gif

they (astro) took ages to bring us HD, but they're fast to bring in 3Dtv.. pressure by TV makers? (obviously they sees the great effect on LCD/Plasma sales when World CUp is available on HD).

i think most likely astro Arena is going to be used for certain delayed telecast in certain extent..

Or Astro Arena will show the BIG matches in BM..like World Cup..
But its kinda weird..
Astro Arena is a channel that all astro customers have..
Its strange for them to have EPL on a channel that does not need sports package subscription..
Or they just going to show the highlights show only kot.. nod.gif

Panic Room on AXN HD is 16:9 fitted.

It's actually not "fitted". The video is stretched vertically while the horizontal resolution is the same. It should have been 2.40 AR letterboxed. For those with anamorphic lens on their projector, that screening would have been interesting.

The auto S3D of that model is only passable as it's not meant to be used by people who actually want to see details. I've seen a larger model where it looks fine for normal footage but when it came to text and fine detail, it completely lost it.

I don't think it's pressure from the CEs. I believe that some people who are upgrading are upgrading directly to 3D. According to Sony, by 2012 half of their HDTVs will be 3D models. The effect is still the same though - to entice people to upgrade their TVs at least to HD and subscribe to B.yond. Doing so would make it faster for Astro to abandon the SD decoder and migrate to H264 broadcast.

It has but that's a matter of DVB transmission. The government has not clarified nor mandated that the DVB transmission be in H264 (it can be in MPEG-2) or in 1080i. All they did was test with digital transmission. We have a date for the end of analog transmission but we have no starting date for HD transmission.

Astro's transmission does not come into play because it is not free-to-air.

U mean live radio streaming..?
Astro showed not more than 10matches from the Championship last season..they started showing from December onwards..
quite pleased coz a lot of the matches involved my club Newcastle..hehe
Hope Albion get promoted and some of their matches will be shown thumbup.gif

Indeed smile.gif

I actually subscribe to the club's media package on their website (http://www.seagulls.co.uk/page/player/Home/) which gives me access to highlights, interviews, build-up videos etc + live commentary from the BBC. The comm. is actually available free in the UK (i.e. via radio) on the local BBC radio station BBC Southern Counties, but isn't streamed on the BBC iPlayer for some reason. Keep in mind, lots of football league clubs have their commentary available worldwide on the BBC iPlayer for free.

Most league clubs use an identical template for their websites (run by one media company I believe), which means they all have identical media packages like the one I linked above (just with club-specific content). Unfortunately, the 'larger' clubs (e.g. Leeds + most premiership clubs) have their own website formats which may or may not have media packages. If they do, they are likely run entirely by the club themselves so may be priced differently and may not have commentary.

In case you're wondering, I think I pay 35 or 40 quid a year for access, so its not too bad.

Having a quick look at the Newcastle website, it looks like they do not use the same template, but commentary is available on their media page: http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/nufcTVHome/0,,10278,00.html

I'd love it if Astro showed the league 1, 2, and conference play-off matches too in addition to the championship ones. I know they do show them in Vietnam. In fact, they show a lot of championship matches in Vietnam!

Astro technician guy should know what parts he have to change when he do a testing.
If all parts need to change to fix your pixelation problem than he must change everything. smile.gif

Your pixelation problem just occur on certain time or what?

Me too. I get it on channel 101, 102, 103, 107, 612 and sometimes 721 at 8pm. Now it happens at 7.30pm and 8pm. I use to get it on 616 at around 7pm or 9.30pm, but now 616 is ok.

Usually it happens for 10mins and then it becomes okay.

Are you living in high-rise building?

The astro contractor has been very helpful and troubleshooting the problem for a few months already. We concluded that the problem is not the decoder or the internal cabling, but outside the apartment.

abandon the SD decoder? how would it cost justified? since astro just launched the B.Yond decoder.. i would think it will last for at least 2 yrs before they launch another decoder.. with the current decoder supporting 3D transmission, its very unlikely to have any replacement soon..

getting all channel to at least have H264 broadcast means F1 "HD" quality across all channels.. expect a huge rise on the monthly fee sweat.gif
