It takes around one hour for the decoder to be activated. Didn't the installer tell you ?

My recording service got activated today. I'm using the external hard disk option. The lack of dual tuner is not a problem for me, with tonnes of repeats by Astro, I can record the repeats either late at night or when I'm at work. Just schedule and leave the decoder on. Sweeeet!

Really need to turn on decoder? What if just leave in standby?

Now our life seems like control by Astro,if he(Astro) didn't add SD,HD or even 3D,i think we are still living in black & white.

Imagine watching World Cup at Black & White... unsure.gif

Enjoy no need to wait but update MUST wait, straigtaway you could watch but your software has to be updated and for a vital update u must leave ur decorder on standby for 20-3-0 mins. flex.gif

How about using the external hard disk? I'm still not sure. Currently at work, will test once I'm at home.

Yes, using external hard disk can record in standby mode too. I have tested in recording WC Game Argentina Vs Chile the other day.

I have also tested recording two programs in two different channels in standby mode, one after the other. It works also.

Cheers.

Question here guys

If I were to change my b.yond to a PVR is there a way to enjoy the full features by using the existing cable and not have to run two cables to the PVR?

I also have a MAX and there is a splitter booster installed will that be an issue?

pvr has 2 tuners, so 2 cables are required, if you want to forced it to use single cable, you need to install stacker-destacker, currently no stock from astro yet, will cost you extra RM300

splitter is not suitable for use with any byond box, because it need to be switch freely between 2 LO frequencies

if you insist on using splitter for both max and byond, when byond is tuned to HD channel, you max will not receive any channel, however both max and byond can watch SD channels with no interference

So I guess the best bet is to have another dish installed although I will hate that in order not to interfere with each other.

Is there anyone using the stacker/destacker or can we purchase that from others instead of A$$tro?

Correct me if I am wrong - if i were to just get the WesternD HDD to use with my b.yond i will only be able to record and watch one channel at a time right? I will not be able to record one channel while watching a different channel?

Yes, that's right. But how often will you encounter that situation? Ask yourself that and if the answer is a lot, then it's worthwhile to get the PVR.
