hey..
i just double checked and yes
FX HD is a preview channel when it is launched..
How long it remains that way is anybodys guess..
So the numbering and all..just forget about it..

However..i also checked again and Astro have confirmed FOX SD will be available on the same day as the other HD..

Anyone knows how FOX and FX lineup will be like?
*
yo.. about the FOX HD thingy... is it coming from reliable source??

how did u said Astro confirm these things... are u working with em??

hahahaha funny astro into 3D....

even HD channel pon got 5 only + 3 coming... I hate to say this but... I dont care about 3D as it is a waste of time and look ridiculous(wearing the glasses) and geeky too...

Astro should have at least 20 HD channels before thinking going into 3D...

measat3A got 12 KU transponders, astro already paid for 6 of them but only used 2 so far, another 6 is still sitting pretty, what for launching another satellite yawn.gif
*
dont understand a bit what u saying... Im not that brilliant though ahahahah.... whatever it is... Astro dont need to contribute more space junk out there... (more than 22k space junk is out there orbiting the earth)

What Astro need is to be good with the customer in terms of its services and content that they can provide.... Better quality SD channel will be a good start.. cos I hate watching the SD channel on my TV... looks sucks as hell.. some of my favorite shows are on SD channel...

HD channels.. obviously they should never stop adding more channels... especially like the highly demanded Discovery HD...

hope they can make a deal with the censorship thingy with whoever in charge... make the shows after midnight less censored... dun need to worry about kids watching em... that is parents responsibility... and parents should be able to lock some channels after midnight cos we never know what the children are doing after we sleep(hahaha speak like Im a parent)

why Im asking this?? cos some shows are terrible to view in TV or Astro cos of the ridiculous censorship... I have watched a movie in HBO and Star Movie where they silent 3-4 words in a character lines... sometimes we can read their lips...

well enuf said... I hope some astro people and some of the censorship employee(dunno what they called).... can re-Think and improve the quality of TV broadcasting in Malaysia... biggrin.gif

After experimenting with my HD Ready LCD TV connected to my laptop to test 576p/i videos:

1- My GOM Player actually doing an excellent job in upscaling 576i/p videos using it's own decoder (FFMPEG also used).
2- The video is in MP4/H.264 1500 kbps.
3- Lower bitrate video also look good in my TV.
4- For HD videos, 1080p can't be played properly due to my laptop processor capacity. 720p excellent eventhough the bitrate is 2000-2500kbps on H.264.

My Questions:

1- Why SD channels on Astro B.yond's PQ is quite crap!!???
2- It's nice if we can know the specs of the decoder.
3- Why the upscaler of B.yond is like a crap!!???
4- Use a good software upscaler may be a solution..
5- What is the average bitrate of a SD channel??

=================================

Another imagination of mine...

If astro wants to use H.264 on SD channels, given that each transponder have 40mpbs:

Each transponder can fit approx. 25 Channels

Astro has 6 transponder in MEASAT 3A, doesn't know in MEASAT 3 (anyone can give info)... 2 are used...
the free 4 transponder can fit 100 channels..

IF astro wants to make a transition to h.264 to all customers,
they can use the free transponders they have and slowly phase out mpeg2 channels to "force" subscribers to change decoders.
I don't know how much this is cost but this is a long term investment for Astro to fit more channels but still maintain good PQ for HD...

In my prediction, Astro B.yond is the first step for Astro to move to H.264 for all channels... We don't know but we'll see...

Hope for any Astro personels read my post...

By an average teenager in Sabah...
Wassalam...

hope that someone can actually take this good words to the people who actually involve with Astro.... biggrin.gif

audo  through HDMI lip sync perfectly, in addition digital sound delay can be adjusted

I already expected that some of the programs in FX HD wont be in HD... but at least... make it stretch....

refer to here... although its wiki... I think we can rely wiki on this..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FX_%28UK%29#FX_HD

only some programs are in HD... the rest... SD... sleep.gif''
