QUOTE(THEALB10N @ Jun 1 2010, 04:30 PM) Their FAQ is quite interesting. but there's no any way for the person like me who already "surrender" my max for Byond.... You can swap your astro max box for the new PVR for FREE, and you don't have to pay the MYR10 recording fee for the first 12 months. If you don't want to lay a second cable to your new PVR, you can pay for some device which (I assume) amplifies the signal or something. However, it costs MYR300. I think I'll stick with my byond box and my max STB (I cannot lay another cable, don't want to pay 300MYR for an amplifier nor 10MYR a month for what I can already do for free). There's not that much on HD worth recording anyways. I do miss the pause feature though. If I know it will be like this, sure I will wait until June.... |

QUOTE(sufian89 @ Jun 1 2010, 10:37 PM) the RM300 for upgrading to byond PVR we have to pay to installer or they will include in the next bill? pay to installer... just like ByondAdded on June 1, 2010, 10:41 pm QUOTE(neb @ Jun 1 2010, 09:41 PM) if anyone is interested, in order to use single cable, this is the frequency stacker/destacker device I found out from the net, astro may not use the exact device: It looked really complicated to me... ![]() ![]() That's why they charge RM300 for that devices... same price as other set of Byond PVR Added on June 1, 2010, 10:41 pm QUOTE(JOR23N @ Jun 1 2010, 09:53 PM) Thanks... all for the translations So, the english for that channel will be Astro Extreme HD Added on June 1, 2010, 10:47 pmI think, I will opt for the new PVR instead. QUOTE(fhdclub @ Jun 1 2010, 11:54 PM) i signed up at Midvalley today for the pvr. think it is worth it especially i would now be able to watch on demand rather than linear stream. the time saved is money. so 10ringgit is well worth. What! No fast-forward!!?? But notice the pvr is without ff, so we would have to watch axn will all the commercial. Added on June 2, 2010, 12:00 am should be together with AXN else it would be in the Starworld range of numbering so at least Astro did not make us take the Starworld package to watch FX so, i only can rewind program? Like that? OMG!! |

Hmm.. one other question, with Byond PVR, can I extend the recording. Like this, if the program ends on 10.00pm based on EPG, but I wanna to extend that to 10.10pm.., can or not? Max can do like that.... so, I wonder if Byond PVR can do it or not. Sorry if I ask the noob question. Already read the PVR FAQ, but it didn't state any about that...

QUOTE(klseet @ Jun 2 2010, 12:01 PM) Perhaps enough for 1 year la.... If Malaysia can be like HK (I mean in terms of Broadband), sure it will be good! But for me, I don't think so .... since I like to record & KEEP, somemore mostly HD channels..... It is something like this: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/ask_doctor/terabyte_backup can put multiple terabytes HDD onto it ....some can even support 8 or 10 arrays ..... I also saw an external USB3 twin 3.5" hot-plug device, no need computer, can just slot-in one already recorded HDD in front, then slot-in another empty HDD at the back, press a button and it just copy, the speed is so much faster than using PC That's how my friends share among themselves over there ..... Also, with broadband so cheap & HD channels so many over there, http://www.netvigator.com/netvigator2003/f...anchorLocation= no wonder there are so many BT sites in HongKong ... This is really not positive news for those Max users who intend to upgrade ..... Added on June 2, 2010, 12:03 pm HACK ?! Hmmmm, R&D like how they do it for Xbox360 20G-->120G ?! (Sorry, off topic) |

Byond PVR has contract or not? I mean, like Byond, we need to stay for at least one year from the date of activation. Sorry guys, I didn't see any clause about contract on their FAQ and T&C. Just one I see is if you want to stop using the recording services, give at least one month notice before astro send out a person to collect the Byond PVR decoder and replace it with normal Byond... Hope someone can clarify this...

QUOTE(yanhui95 @ Jun 3 2010, 07:21 PM) damn... i wonder if it is flexible, like lets say pay per use(charge one month)... for the hdd option. yes, you can. But you must know, extra RM10 will be charged to you because "downgrade" of package.... i mean like june you use. then july you don't use. can like that? pay for june only |
