TJ, I cannot see the upgrade package page on the new site. Or did I miss it? The link is there, but on the upgrade page, there's only the option for the sports pack upgrade.

OFF TOPIC HERE !!! SORRY !!!

FINALLY, Rafa Benitez has LEFT LIVERPOOL !!!!

For all those Liverpool fans here, I don't know you will be HAPPY or SAD !!!!

For me, I don't care. Sorry, just some info only, again, sorry for OFF TOPIC.
*
As a non Liverpool fan, I'm sad. He should have been retained, so that he can drag them further down next season. tongue.gif
So we'll no longer see Mr Benitez on ESPNHD next season. But possibly on ASSP HD, as Inter is interested in him..

Astro should have made a goodwill gesture eh, something like free recording service to those who activated Byond for the first 2 months, the pioneers. Afterall, we helped them launch the thing.

Some people are saying that there's a crawler on Channel V saying that on the 15th of June, they will cease broadcast on Astro, to be replaced with Fox. I was happy with the addition of Fox, but not at the expense of Channel V!

Noooooooooo, you can dispose off channel v if you are bringing in channel v hd !!!
Sigh, hope its not true... theres already not enough music video channels around!
Yea man, sigh. We're left with only MTV now. hitz.tv doesn't cut it for me.

So confirmed then, we gain one channel, we lose one. Channel [V] will officially cease broadcast on Astro on 15th June. Below are replies from Astro's FB.

QUOTE
We understand your sentiment. Most people in this generation have grown up with this channel. The decision is based on the relevancy of the content in terms of choices and quality for our customers. Channel V's rating has been on a declining trend over the years, and with better and exciting programmes offer by other content providers, we want to take this opportunity to bring more variety and new programmes to our customers. If it's music that you are looking for, we have MTV and Astro Hitz TV. The new channel FOX has some of the best television series. Flash Forward is a really cool show, so is Modern Family.

QUOTE
Astro continuously reviews its content proposition to offer the best choices and quality entertainment for its customer. FOX is added in the variety pack so that viewers can enjoy a larger variety of genres such as comedy, investigative drama, sitcoms and animation. Music will still play an important role as we will showcase and promote International music videos and Asian musical acts on Astro hitz tv and MTV.

could you please link me to that post? btw thats so much bs from the astro rep. channelv plays good music videos compared to hitz/mtv although the PQ is byond crap. they should add another music channel so its only fair

You can just add Astro on your FB and scroll through the recent comments on their wall. Some people are still complaining about that, and as usual, Astro gave them the standard spin.

No. It's just a measurement tool to measure the strength from different transponders.

Anybody managed to link their Astro account to their login ID at the new Astro website? What's the added functionality after the link up? I didn't manage to get the activation code after a few tries, maybe coz I'm using a TuneTalk number.

By the way, the "HD" logo in Astro Supersports HD World Cup channels is generated by the B.yond box. The "HD" is missing when I watched the HD channels in McDonalds; a white square box appears on the screen on the bottom right corner on these channels instead.

You mean the channel watermark on the top right hand corner? I noticed that it will only appear during live matches. Repeats do not have that logo. I thought the box only generate the HD logo on the channel banner?

Is Astro getting more efficient, or is it my lucky star? I called them to subscribe to Metro this morning. About 15 minutes later, I can watch already.

My recording service got activated today. I'm using the external hard disk option. The lack of dual tuner is not a problem for me, with tonnes of repeats by Astro, I can record the repeats either late at night or when I'm at work. Just schedule and leave the decoder on. Sweeeet!

B.yond PVR can record in standby mode too. smile.gif

How about using the external hard disk? I'm still not sure. Currently at work, will test once I'm at home.

Yes, using external hard disk can record in standby mode too. I have tested in recording WC Game Argentina Vs Chile the other day.

I have also tested recording two programs in two different channels in standby mode, one after the other. It works also.

Cheers.

Great, thanks!

So I guess the best bet is to have another dish installed although I will hate that in order not to interfere with each other.

Is there anyone using the stacker/destacker or can we purchase that from others instead of A$$tro?

Correct me if I am wrong - if i were to just get the WesternD HDD to use with my b.yond i will only be able to record and watch one channel at a time right? I will not be able to record one channel while watching a different channel?
*
Yes, that's right. But how often will you encounter that situation? Ask yourself that and if the answer is a lot, then it's worthwhile to get the PVR.

OK, I've tried my Byond to record in standby, confirmed. It didn't even switch on. In standby mode, when the recording time comes, you'll see the record light on the decoder lights on, indicating that it's recording.

They will introduce more HDDs in the future, but for now, only the MyPassport AV is compatible, as they have tested it with the box. You will notice that the hard disk works hard with the box, constantly reading and writing. The activity light flashes constantly, even when the box is in standby mode.
BTW, mods, thanks for the quick action. smile.gif

I think there's a bug in the Byond box recording software. When I rewinded live tv and played it back, after a while the sound disappeared. A few times already, and on different channels. It doesn't happen in recordings though, only when I rewind live tv. Anybody experienced this?
