Hi my first post here,

I need suggestion.. now i am torn between 23" and 24" monitor, both at 1920 x 1080.

pixel density :
23" Pixel Density: 9176 pixels / sq. in.
24" Pixel Density: 8428 pixels / sq. in = almost same as my current 20" (1600 x900)

Do 23" will clearly look crispier (sharper) than 24" one from the same distance point of view or the difference will hardly be noticed ?

Its hard to find shop that displays these big LCD around here Taman U.. so Please share if you have experience about this.

Thx

24" dot pixels is slightly larger, you probably won't notice it, plus with that screen size, I can't tell the different between them 2 except for the slightly higher height (for the almost same model).
Now if you have budget, and won't mind something larger, just go for 24", market shows that 23" and 24" has quite a different in price for that 1" different and making the 23" sounds much value.

you might be too close to the monitor, my bro oso said too bright when he play, cos he kinda got used to the distance using old monitor.
keep the distance right and you'll be fine.

Given the positive review and lots of recommendation in this thread, this monitor is reason why most people goes to IPS, not just cheap but has the premium panel features that most professional and ultrasharp series have to offer.
I, myself still need to sell off my ****** and ****** monitor before I can goes to it, definitely want to try out what others feels about it, can't wait... rclxm9.gif

how come ur saying ips is the best while our mate here asking the best for gaming?
and infact that lg is using non ips which i think having the less ms for the fast response..
and also have LED which i reckon would be good on power consumption..

sometimes suggesting something need to look on the overall view..
we cannot simply say IPS is better for everything..

Did I imply IPS is the best? And when I say most people, it's from this thread, not including any other users out there, and I didn't say all as well.
Most (not all, again) people has realize the IPS gives them much more eye candy experience and didn't see any ghosting result from the slower response rate as well.
After all the suggestion and attempt to lure those users to take IPS, did all of them accept? No, so it's up to the users themselves, I barely suggesting it base on my opinion.

Well, I apologize if my sentence does confuse you, hopefully it won't confuse other users as well, but overall I still support Dell IPS U2311H, best IMHO.

i didn't directly to say on ur statement about the best wildwestgoh..
it just that some of us might thinking that way.. and some not even bother to elaborate more on why suggesting such opinion..

atleast give some words on why it is worth etc.. not just becoz base on users comment saying it's good..

and why it's good, worth, best to the point of different view of the usage..
in this case for gaming.. coz some might prefer a better response rate..

i don't see users need to gaming and stare the panel from side where ppl always say TN is the worst producing the IQ.. where actually ppl need the faster response for the high pace gaming...

There no such thing as this thing Best for this and that. Those that can tolerate a bit of ghosting will choose U2311h or other ips panel. On the other hand for those can tolerate less accurate color production and less viewing angle, get TN panel which has faster response time for gaming.

try download this, and if your eyes cant catch up(read the dialog in the bubble on tn panel), ips or tn panel would make no difference ( like most ppl )
it means u still see an almost blurry fast action sequence as a blurry one.I can read on tn panel, but on ips, it becomes blurred.
even ppl who can differentiate like me, doesnt too bothered by the slow response time ( except for action movies, ips panel sometimes fail, when the actions too fast, gets very blurry )

but of course, higher response time and refresh rate makes the picture fully readable with mortal eyes....muahaha
dont believe me, try the test on 120hz monitor, so easy to read the dialog bubble

layman terms:
higher response time and/or refresh rate = easy to see fast sequences, less blurred images
slow response time = on fast sequences images will get blurry/very blurry and leave silhouettes

on fps its not much of a problem, really
its just for the ppl who become nauseous when they see images blurred too much when doing quick turns in fps games
so when switch to ips, they cant play cos would make them queasy
no such thing as you lose a game cos you were seeing double, and shot your enemy's trail of shadows
ghosting on ips dont happen like the old days
only on very fast action sequences, and very rare also

so, unless you suffer from lazy eyes syndrome or something and cant catch up with fast images,
response time makes no real difference

ips WAS bad for gaming, but that was years ago,
when the ghosting leave behind 3-5mm thick silhouettes, and even burn in for a few seconds before disappear blink.gif
Now, ips is not the best for gaming, but it certainly is not that bad as ppl might think

the only problem with some ips monitor is they handle analog signal very bad
my u2410 cant handle analog signal...cant use my ps2 on it, too much ghosting rclxub.gif ....zzzz
