QUOTE(r1v3r @ Jun 8 2010, 01:12 PM) NS is not a bad things if you see it as character building. Some young boy are too "weak", always play computer and spend most time in his room. They lack of character(other than their online game characters) they can't go far given the 2 years time advantage compare to those who go NS. having said that, not all kids who went NS must be successful but they do have a better character. My opinion is 50:50 of success, okay maybe up to max 70% if you want it higher. (Just a pluck from air figure)Look at all of those Malaysian working in SG now, do you think they are not as good as those Sgrean which went thru NS? Btw, I wanted to ask something. What is the approx MRT travelling time during morning peak hours, say around 8am? For e.g. from Admiralty to Raffles, how long does it takes from station to station. Thanks. I just like the idea of Chinese boys knowing how to shoot to kill, use a knife and being capable of military-grade physical combat. If I had kids, I'd definitely pack them off to NS. |

QUOTE(Dyong @ Jun 8 2010, 01:52 PM) Oh well, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. There's no substitute on proper family upbringing, let alone left to the state do what one has failed to. At the age of 16-18, most of the habits would have already been formed/ solidified. To induce a "life changing NS experience" which can be for better or worse, is not something one would tie your aspiring kid to for 2 years; but a last shot to "re-form" a recalcitrant brat. I have seen possitive results from NS among 16~18 yo students. |

Would like to know whether is it advisable to rent a room through website agents such as flatsdb or to personally visit the location to see any notice for rental?
And may I know how big is a common room and utility room compared to a middle room in Malaysia? Can accommodate a wardrobe, study table, single bed and some moving space? Because I want to find a place to stay by the end of June, preferably around Kallang/ Toa Payoh/ Redhill onwards. Along EW or Ns line Thanks in advance!! |

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 9 2010, 09:03 AM) During peak hour, half the trains terminate at Yishun. And after Yio Chu Kang, the distance between stations is quite a bit farther/longer. If you're a bus guy, a lot more buses from AMK/Bishan/Toa Payoh area. |
