Hi everyone, would like some advice on watch selection. I'm currently looking for a watch for everyday usage, currently i'm looking at Tissot and Victorinox, budget around 1-2k. May i know between these 2 brands, which offers better built quality? Or is there any other brands or models that can fit in my budget? Thanks.

One is normal automatic, the other is chrono movement. Of course the price is different.
7750 is a most common chrono movement, been around for years and reliable.

How about comparing ETA C01.211 with ETA 7750? It's quite new and not much feedback on the net...

On second thoughts I think i would want the Steinhart Nav B Chrono II. Its larger than the Arch at 44mm, have double rivets and day + date, and best its cheaper! smile.gif

Should I b looking at the VAT or non VAT price? Outside EU, the price should b non VAT right? Anyone has done online purchase from EU without any issues?

Steinhart purchase for us is without VAT price,
You just select the English language then u will see the non VAT price. Only things is the shipping is costly with fedex, but safe

i m considering between Archimede normal Pilot and the chronograph..but the chrono is like double the price

Is it worth paying double for it? Its using the Valjoux 7750 movement which is supposedly better than the Elabore/Std grade of the 2824-2 movement? Think someone mentioned that Archimede is using standard..
*
ETA 2824 vs ETA 7750 cannot really compare.
its apples to oranges.

movement grade with Archimede is different. what does it mean? go to page 1 post 1 for info.
worth paying double? depends... do u use Chrono often? or more for show? or happy with design.

btw these 2 brands.. build quality same same.
comfortable with online shopping there are alot of other brands out there, maybe better value too.
they should be listed on page 1 post 1.

price is certainly different.
more expensive watches would use 7750 and not C01.211.
there must be a reason for it. maybe a unproven since its not tested on the field.
maybe ppl using C01.211 don't mind changing a new watch (since its cheap) after 5-10yrs and it serve it purpose.
it may cost more to service C01.211 that its not Economical to maintain it

Mind to give some examples of what are the other brands that i can look into? Cause honestly speaking i'm not very familiar with most of the brands listed in the list as i've never seen them in the local market. Thanks.

Would you consider Seiko? There are some JDM models that fit into your budget and they are not as common as those models avail locally.
i.e. Seiko Spirit (this is the model I like) http://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/seiko-spi...ions-43166.html
i.e. Seiko Sumo, Seiko Samurai

Stowa is nice! But with my current budget, i think i'll only able to afford the basic Antea, lol...

Christopher ward seems quite nice, never heard about it before this though. At that price point it is very attractive for the features it offers. Wonder how's the built quality of it, how does it fares against a Stowa?

Between brands like Tissot, Victorinox and Stowa, is there much difference between the built quality?

you should have thick wrists to wear one. The face is quite big.
