I just felt 99% of the time ppl here is asking for the affordable stuff.. feel free to post on IWC, PP etc, doubt mod is going to remove it.
well affordable varies from ppl to ppl too.. some its 1k other 10k or more..
there is also a thread in hobbies where ppl ask about Subs, AP etc.. nothing cheap like Citizen, Tissot. the activity there is slow so I kinda play with the name abit to catch attention. tongue.gif

I did also insinuate in quotes... unless thats not understandable by ppl here. mislead too many ppl?

The title is not apt at all. When the watches are not affordable as a time telling machine. A poor man could do well reading time with just a RM99 CASIO. So whats gives with the "poor" in the title? You mean you like to accept that beggars do really earn a lot to finance homes and cars just with begging as a job? Since when poor means you could afford a RM1K watch?

cool down bro.....in watch world...the phrase `poor man's watch' is quite acceptable..and common.....its not degradation ..on the contrary....its a phrase to remind the majority of people that watch collecting hobby are not about the Rolex, VCs, APs...but watch collecting can be equally passionate when you're collecting Seikos, ORients or even Casios..

You ask for it. First review in thread 2 tongue.gif

Been lurking for b-uhr (pilot watch) for few months now. Some history of the original WWII pilot watch can be found here, http://www.calibremagazine.com/node/305

Finally decided on Laco due to its price and originality of the b-uhr. Chose B dial coz I find A dial is too common and plain for my liking.
This is the original spec for B dial b-uhr. 55mm in size! Easily readable and wear outside the flight suit.
user posted image

Shipping was fast, 3 days from Germany to KL with FedEx.

Special request for no logo dial to reflect the original spirit of b-uhr. 42mm in brushed steel, mineral cystal glass, inner hour markers with outter minute markers. Still getting used to the short hour hand.
user posted image

Non screw-in onion crown, would not put a mark on the back of your hand like diamond crown.
user posted image

Polished steel clear case back with mineral cystal. Mitoya 8215 workhorse. Second hand running smoothly, no stutter issue so far (touch wood sweat.gif )
user posted image

Original pilot strap with rivets. Strap alone costing EUR49.00
user posted image

Need some times to figure how to wear the strap sweat.gif Strap sitting nicely on my wrist in last hole. People with small wrist might need to request for shorter strap or punch additional holes.
user posted image

Lume nicely with superluminova.
user posted image

And lastly, compulsory wrist shot. rclxms.gif
user posted image

Very limited production due to parts availability (or financial difficulty), stocks usually sold off within days.
Laco, one of the 5 original makers of b-uhr, Make in Germany, albeit Japanese movement, EUR166.39 ~RM730 with free FedEx shipping.
Though not as historically correct spec as WUS LE, but I still think that this baby is a steal rclxm9.gif

For me, the best B-Uhr has a light face, beautiful blued hands, and sober numbering.

anyway I just quote an example.. RM$10 U happy? seem like there are lots of bones in a egg U are finding.
since MOD and even yourself have problem with the title.. do feel free to make the appropriate suggestion to get it right.

patryn, as fas as watches are concern, that's tax free in Malaysia. Item reached Sepang at the morning, cleared by custom by noon, reached me at 4.30pm on the same day! thumbup.gif

terence, too bad any warranty claim need to send back to Germany. But good news is, Miyota is not a complicated movement and could be serice locally here. If worse come to worse, is not that expensive to change the entire movement! tongue.gif

Almost all of the modern watches are lume by superluminova, expect some brands like Ball, Luminox, Lum-Tec etc.

The lume is a beau man, grats biggrin.gif

Anyway, just a quick question for you guys. Does anyone know how to resize the leather strap on the Tag Carreras? I got mine almost 2 years back and I have absolutely no recollection on how I adjusted the size back then. I tried tugging on it just like that but it wouldn't budge, and I'm afraid to yank it harder for fear of the whole strap falling apart.

Awesome shots of your B-uhr watch ck77. There was actually someone in Lowyat.net who was selling the exact same watch, I was very interested but was kinda annoyed at the seller's comments when I asked him if he had the 2824-2 version instead of the Miyota. Ended up not buying it and got myself a Glycine Combat instead.

Anyways, I am very close to ordering a Stowa B-Uhr. For those who have yet to see it, here's the link Stowa Flieger Baumuster B Dial

Stowa has been making A dial Fliegers all this while but their new range will include a B dial! Its size is 40mm, so it's smaller than your Laco. Price wise, it's also a lot higher compared to a Miyota Laco at 630 Euros.
