Citibank Cash Back Platinum Credit Card Terms and Conditions

1.  The following terms and conditions are applicable to all cash rebates awarded under the Citibank Cash Back Platinum credit card issued by Citibank Berhad ("Citibank") to Citibank Cash Back Platinum cardmembers ("Cardmembers"):
[Note: For the avoidance of doubt, Cardmembers mean both principal and supplementary cardmembers.]

(a)  5% cash rebate on all spending on petrol;
[Note: Cash rebates for petrol are capped at RM30 per month.]
(b)  2% cash rebate on all spending in Guardian and Watson pharmacies;
©  2% cash rebate on all spending on groceries at Carrefour, Tesco, Cold Storage and Giant only;
(d)  a)2% cash rebate on all payments made via Citibank Online or through Citibank’s One Bill system for DiGi, Maxis and Celcom bills only;
(e)  0.3% cash rebate on all other spending.

That's one good all rounder credit card. I think better than Amex Gold Credit Card liao. Amex actually very limited merchant base.

I really don't like stuffing too many cards into my wallet. a 2" thick wallet in the pocket is really uncomfortable. I want to carry just one all rounder discount/loyalty credit card. I think this citibank platinum cash back card suit my liking.

Hi... Need some opinion here..

I have aCitibank Gold Card user with total amount of 13000. Monthly interest is 13.5 % p.a

Lets say i want to settle the total 13000 with the option below:

Option A:

Just Pay the 13000 to the CT card and clear all the balance. Is there any fee waive / discounts for lum sum settlement ?

Option B:

Apply for a HSBC credit card and Then do a Balance Transfer from CT to HSBC under this program, transferring 10 K. The balance at CT 3k pay cash.

so, the 10k i transfer will b charged 5.99% p.a and i intend to lum sum settle it within 12 months or straight away settle.

Which is more untung for me in terms of $ that i can save in this process ? Option A or Option B ?

thanks in advance ya...

Option A: No interest charge since full settlement on amount owe.
Option B: You have to pay RM599 INTEREST for 12 months installments. How much can you get with that RM10k in hand initially (assuming you have it since you saying you are about to settle immediately) while paying RM833.33 every month.

There is no WAY for you to UNTUNG here (come on, what kind of untung you expected when you owing bank??)

Well ... once in a while we will get these silly questions. And of course, they will not be happy with the honest answer that we give.
Perhaps it is better just to either ignore these questions or allow them to get the answer direct from the bank itself.

Now for the last time ... full settlement of your cc debt is NOT negotiable with the bank for lower interest.
CC debts does not share the same equation as your regular bank loan (or any other form of loans) where it might be negotiable.

The only time where cc debt repayment is negotiable is when you have been blacklisted by the bank for being a defaulter. At this juncture, you will find it difficult to get any other loans from any other banks because of your blacklisted record.

Now ... is this enough motivation for anyone not to ask for a discount on full cc settlement ?

Obviously it is option A unless he can make sure his money earn something while taking 0% balance transfer.
Bear in mind, one have to pay RM50 for new credit card and one will be charged with 17.5% finance charges if fail to make full payment to the installment.

I tested charging a small amount on my SCB JustOne cc on Friday. And yes, SCB has reset the cash back and that transaction earned 5% cash back when I check my account online.

Yesterday registered my contact number at Citibank website for Cash Back Platinum Visa.
Today afternoon at 2.40pm Citibank called me and email me the application form.
At 5.30pm I faxed the completed application form ( just the form. No other documents needed) back to the Internet Sales Executive who emailed me the form earlier.

Let's see how fast Citibank can process my application.

If your documents are complete and you are qualified, you may expect to receive the card by Friday.
