generally your looks dont decide whether you get hired or not BUT IF IT DOES HAPPEN...
do you prefer to be filter out at the application stage?
or
attend for interview where they dismiss you based on looks?

I would asked for what purpose they really need my pictures because i don't see how it would affect the employment.
If they can't really explain the necessities for it, I would say no.In fact sending my pictures is a waste of resource.

QUOTE(milleu @ May 13 2009, 09:46 AM) I would asked for what purpose they really need my pictures because i don't see how it would affect the employment. If they can't really explain the necessities for it, I would say no.In fact sending my pictures is a waste of resource. It's often that small details that make those difference between being called from an interview and not being called. If they ask for it in the ads, and you didn't give, might show your reluctance to follow orders or they assume you're not sharp enough to read the requirements. Say you give the reason 'waste of resource' to send your photo to them, your potential employer might have the impression that you're those lazy type who won't give the extra effort when performing the job. But most probably the reason they need your photo is to give them a first impression of how you look. Either way, just send a photo of yours, no harm done.

good morning all,
I'm a fresh grad in Mech engineering and I would like to ask a few questions regarding my cover letter and resume.
If a company does not advertise any vacancies but I would like to send in an open application, should I state the specific position that I want or should I just leave it open?
For example, I know this particular company hires pipeline/piping/static/structural engineer but they are not advertising any open positions at the moment, shoud I put the specific positions that i want as above or should i just put a general Mechanical Engineer (based on my background) under the objective line of my resume??
I'm curious to know as I will need to state "Application for the position of ...." under the subject line of my email, objective line of my resume as well as in my cover letter....
Would appreciate if anyone can give some opinion regarding this..
Thank You.

Best still if you can provide a name of an officer in the company that you know the vacancy from in the letter.

Hmm, I was thinking of putting that too...but thought it might be too general...worried that the company will think that i'm not sure what i want.... On the other hand, putting a specific position is like telling them i only want this position although i don't have any experience...and i think that's not very good... Do you think it's good to put "Seeking a full time position as an engineer with strong interest in pipeline engineering (the position that i want)" under the objective of my resume??? Thank you.

Hi all,
I'm facing a problem in writing my resume and hope to get guildline from all the experienced one.. I've been working part time all this while and normally i do not need to write in a resume. Now i'm applying for a permanent job post which requires me to write one. So my problem is, since i did not finish my degree due to financial problem, i stopped during my 5th semester in limkokwing, how should i write that in the academic column? Should i just write highest education qualification as SPM? Or is there any other way? Thanks.

I am currently with company X. I started off with them in position A, then promoted to B, and now in position C.
So in my resume, should I mention about my previous positions A and B and its respective job responsibilities?
thanks!
