HTTP is pretty slow today for some reason. KL speedtests showing 500ms+ lat but 10mbps up/down, BT is fine though

How about the link to very far countries like USA?

@-br0k3n-

You're going to have to buy a switch and wire it to one of the blue LAN ports on the DIR-615. The ports on the fiberhome modem are not supposed to be used by PCs. The red LAN port is only for IPTV access.. so in short you only have 3 usable LAN ports.. to get more, buy a switch and wire it to one of those 3. And yeah.. you have to use the dlink router unless you have a dd-wrt flashed router lying around.

Hi Riz. Been following your very useful posts.

If I have a Linksys WRT54GL and flash it with DD-WRT, could I use that instead of the TM router?

Thanks

If it has VLAN tagging support, yeap. But I can't guarantee anything, another LYN-er tried it with a dd-wrt flashed buffalo router and it doesn't seem to be working properly. I'm not sure if he was on VDSL Unifi or Fiberhome though..

I guess that means you're gonna get back your iptv...  laugh.gif

Haha, I didn't test it out till today.. I had a spare quad core c2d rig around with 8gb of RAM in it. Hooked up 2 additional NICs (3 in total), tried pfSense on it and the Internet worked fine.. but the IPTV didn't work at all.. I think pfSense blocks multicasts and I'm not too familiar with FreeBSD to fix the problem.

So 'bout an hour ago, I reformatted the system and installed ubuntu server 10.04. System boots in 5-8 seconds and connects the PPPoE link in another 3-5.. brings my home network online from cold boot in <15 seconds. Services and iptables all configured manually from the shell using a script.

Had some issues with the IPTV VLAN <-> physical NIC bridge. If you don't set the IPTV VLAN priority > Internet VLAN priority.. the IPTV stream gets completely screwed up which is funny because I didn't notice any priority bits in my earlier packet captures.

Anyway, everything is working perfectly now. If you ever need a quad core Unifi router with a 1,000,000 connection sized state table + IPTV support.. rest assured you can build one from scratch tongue.gif

Furthermore, I'm just guessing here but I think TM has implemented MAC address filtering for their DHCP server on the IPTV VLAN. Their DHCP server will not acknowledge requests from non-set top box vendors. This means you can't hook up your laptops to view the streams anymore with my playlist unless you spoof the MAC address. Could probably set up a DHCP relay server with a spoofed MAC or something but I really don't care about the IPTV network much anymore.. I'm sick of TM reading what I post here and making changes without even giving any acknowledgment.

Hmm. I guess it might be safer if I connect the Link sys to the Dlink in bridge mode for now, disable DHCP and let the DHCP come from the Dlink?
I have preset static IPs in Tomato for QOS - I guess I have to change these now?
