i got my SVS13116 last week. very happy with this laptop, very light and the battery can last quite long on stamina mode. the screen is good too, and is easy on the eyes for prolonged use. only down side is the speakers, very very tiny sounding, so need to use earphones or speakers for better audio experience.

got a free bag and the buffalo HDD, and 2 years warranty from sony centre @ KLCC. no discount though.

Got this from a forum, and it really works! nod.gif :

"Go to this site http://support.asus.com/download/download_...odel=M5A99X+EVO

Select windows 7 64bit, and then under audio there will be two driver downloads

Download the OLDER one that is dated "2011.01.07"

Extract it and run the asussetup.exe and just follow the onscren prompts.

You have to unistall the Dolby program and remember to raise the EQ levels..."

Now the speaker is much louder. thumbup.gif

Guys I'm back here for some info...

Anyone know how can I get SSD as my secondary hard disk to replace my optical drive? I'm using VAIO VGN-FW series.

Well, what I know is to find a holder to the SSD and slot back in to the optical drive, after taking out my BD-ROM. But the prob is, where to find such holder?

And the prob is, I found out that the port in my optical drive is:

i didn't bargain, according to the staff, it's an in-house promo by sony centre KLCC, and for warranty i'm not too sure whether it's standard 2 years or due to my sony card membership.

the HDD given supports USB 3.0, so it's very fast when used on the USB 3.0 port on the SVS.

How long your Vaio SVS13116 battery can last under stamina? I have my SB36 but still not very satisfy with the battery life :S

Ok.. Appreciate for that anyway.. I've solved that by doing loads of searching from the Internet myself. But now another question arise:

- How fast will my system support? SATA2 or SATA3 in SSD?

at first there was only 1 of it. then it slowly spread to become a bunch of them.
now the problem is, they are not always present as they come and go as they like.

and i have noticed the situation depends on pressure/altitude.
they spread like nobody's business when i'm at high altitude and less serious when i'm back down.

I see.
So, you're saying that if on the ground you will see a couple of the dead pixel.
But it will get worst if you're on a flight or on a high pressure/altitude level?

Does this dead pixel start to appear on your laptop AFTER you turned it on during a flight, or it already start to have one before you ever bring it on a flight?

I did carry it on a flight before last month, but didn't turn it on during the flight though.

So now it's on RMA?

not yet, cause this is my primary work machine and i have too many things to backup before i send it in.
furthermore the last i check with service centre, they need to take weeks to fix this cause the panel is not in stock.

What da.. It looks bad on normal attitude.. It looks unbearable on high altitude..

Yeah, would do the same if I were you, coz I use mine for primary work machine too.

Hope it will never happen on mine though.

Do update us when you get it fixed.
Would like to hear how good the Sony support is.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck on the repair.

i guess i need to clarify that this problem did not start due to high altitude usage. It started when i'm on ground and then i notice the freaking pool of dead pixel spreading on high altitude.

Furthermore, my worst situation happens on a mountain not on flight as flight cabin is pressurized so the pressure differences is negligible.

Previous Full HD VAIO panel were mostly Sharp manufactured and are much better than this batch' TN display, which i highly suspected is Samsung's.

Damn i really hate the koreans.

Hahah. Not sure about the manufactures. But yeah, they are not that premium.

Yup, I did realized that once you share your picture(It doesn't seem like on a flight). biggrin.gif

Hello, good evening.

I need a help here.

My VAIO E-series laptop, VPCEG28FG, has failed to recover through the process of recovery. I had went into VAIO Care to initiate the recovery, but then, the recovery seemed to have ceased half-way so I resetted the laptop.
When i turned it back on, it couldnt run. What i think is that the recovery is not finished yet.

I think what i need is a recovery disk. But, i forgot to make a recovery disk when it is working well. cry.gif

Can anyone help me out? Or borrow me a recovery disk? notworthy.gif

Very urgent, seriously.

Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif
