I read that oil paint can also be used but you still need to thin it down and take hours or days to dry, but to be honest just go for the good stuff since you really need to practice the thinning ratio of paints since different brand have different consistency, not to mention cleaning the airbrush itself.  rclxub.gif

Yep, you need to buy the thinner just that i recommend getting the same brand as the paint and keep in mind the type of paint like acrylic paint thin with acrylic thinner and so on.

Since you've been using spray can previously, why not just decant your existing spray cans? http://www.ghostofzeon.com/diy/paintxtract/xtract.html.

where do you guys buy airbrush?? I'm interested in airbrushing. Wanna make it a hobby.
[EDIT] Just saw it on XL website.. Anywhere else that sells airbrush?
What are the things that make an airbrush work?
Compressor? hose? and the main part is the holder itself?

Hi everyone. Can someone suggest to me the best paint to use to paint Marvel Universe figures? Also, what is the proper combination for flesh tones? Thanks in advance.

try asking tkting, compressor + air tank (with hose already). You only need to buy the airbrush. Cheapo airbrush will be fine. Invest on higher end when you're pro enough

Mr Hobby or Tamiya Acrylics. You can paint brush or airbrush.
flesh tone depends on your taste. You can straight use flesh or do color combi. either flesh+orange or flesh+red as based color.

Get turpentine or white Spirit for the enamel paint. Better than the enamel thinner. Enamel thinner may spoilt ur plastic kit if use excessively. U can get the turpentine in any hobby shop selling oil or acrylic paint. Thanks.

Hi guys. wanna ask a question on industrial spray paints. I tried using TOA spray which stated acrylic lacquer based. turned out quite smooth and ok for my taste. my only problem was using the gundam marker for panel lining and touch paint after that. i can't rub off excess panel lining marks and the paint starts to come off if i use gundam marker to paint over it. any advice on this? Thanks!

what type of paint you're using?
your based paint should be different from from panel line paint. Panel line usually enamel, your based paint should be non-enamel or top coated with non-enamel. In that way when your cleaning the excess using lighter fluid/enamel thinner only the enamel paint will be remove.

Ah.. I've also had similar experience before. That's why in my previous mentions, i advice to gloss coat before panel lining. The gloss coat make is easier for you to line and also rub off the excess paint.

Essentially, matte coat is such because the surface on a micro level is not even and smooth. Light does not reflect properly and uniformly on it, that's why it becomes matte. These roughness is also the reason why when you try to rub off your paint, It doesn't come out clean and you get black spots.

Solution? Soak the part back in brake fluid, re paint back the white, gloss goat it before start lining. All the best!
