QUOTE(Parody @ Jun 21 2011, 12:58 AM) That's some impressive work!!! Not newbie-ish at all! Love the bloodstaines on the Blades of Chaos and on the body, but Medusa's head looks like it could use some weathering or shading. She's kinda bland now. Thanks.. |

QUOTE(calcilis @ Jun 29 2011, 09:53 PM) put the can in warm water before using,it works...also avoid having too much top coat of flat, one pass is enough for me... Added on June 29, 2011, 10:42 pm QUOTE(nazrul90 @ Jun 29 2011, 09:52 PM) add some $ and you have good a compressor and ab kit.. I thinks it is not worth it...just my two cents.. QUOTE(nazrul90 @ Jul 11 2011, 12:46 AM) retarder can be optional but for better surface tension of paint, use retarder.. Use leveling thinner, got retarder mix already. For thinner and paint ratio for hand painting, I say the consistency of milk... Apply paint in multiple layers, I try painting in 6-8 layers... |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I saw my tank... If you want a matte finish, you can always use clear flat top coat to "kill" the glossiness. Prime your kit first boss, metal bug kit plastic is not really that good.. |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Prime = primer paint so your base paint will have something to adhere to. If you straight away paint dark grey to the kit, your paint will chip easily. So you need three, primer (usually comes in grey/white) + based ( ur dark grey and pink) Cut all part coz you need to assembly it first so you have the feel on how each parts goes with the kit. If necessary, sand/file the parts that needs to be sanded. Remember, plastic quality is not really good. Leave the tire tracks of the tank uncut. This part you can paint first before cutting. It's easier this way. This post has been edited by Noysan: Sep 26 2011, 08:25 PM |

QUOTE(daydreaming @ Sep 27 2011, 04:45 PM) It depends on your definition of base paint. If your definition of "base" is the first coating of paint you apply beforeapplying anything then that is base paint. There is also based paint define as the paint color to help define the opacity of the second coat of paint your going to use. For example, your applying yellow and you want it to be brighter yellow, apply white based paint otherwise it will turn dull if your first coating of paint is dark. To cut the story short, and not to confused you anymore |

QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Oct 10 2011, 05:36 PM) Hi, you mean the paint doesn't dry/cure after a week? It seems this is the case.. I bought Krylon white gloss primer (for plastic) and Krylon Gloss White sprays from ACE HARDWARE. Unfortunately after applying and leaving for a week to cure, I still cannot get that insane white gloss. Is there something I need to apply? One more thing i noticed is that there will be an embedded line on the painted surface if my fingernails run through it. Why is this result? |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « It seems like you've over sprayed it, so when the paint dried it turns into rubbery effect. I suggest u make some testing first. Get some plastic spoon and try the paint on that (primer and white gloss) but this time just apply thin layer and see what happen. |

QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Oct 11 2011, 11:22 AM) Rubbery effect? Yea...that is another way to describe the situation. So would this dry and harden or its rubbery all the way? I will be like that all the way. You have no option but to remove the old paint and re-paint.Worse subsequent scenario would be to sand away the whole part and respray again...OMG! But do my suggestion first, try on plastic spoon or any thing you can find. It may be the paint or it may be your method. Try eliminating first the possible scenario. |

QUOTE(FunkyMonkiBaby @ Oct 11 2011, 11:40 AM) Ok, have to buy another spray can...maybe im thinking of using the RUSTOLEUM brand which is offered in ACE HARDWARE too. between too close and too far.. If I spray too close, it may be too think or leading to overflow effect (and that rubbery effect). If I spray too far, I get rough surface. What is your ideal spray distance? seriously, you need to make some testing/hands-on to find this out. practice makes perfect.. |
