That's some impressive work!!! Not newbie-ish at all!  rclxms.gif

Love the bloodstaines on the Blades of Chaos and on the body, but Medusa's head looks like it could use some weathering or shading. She's kinda bland now.

*
I will definitely try your suggestion on the medusa head... nod.gif a little weathering will do the trick... smile.gif
Thanks.. notworthy.gif

how to avoid frosting during top coating?
*
put the can in warm water before using,it works...
also avoid having too much top coat of flat, one pass is enough for me...

i use handpaint and retarder is optional? coz i dont have retarder
*
retarder can be optional but for better surface tension of paint, use retarder.. Use leveling thinner, got retarder mix already. For thinner and paint ratio for hand painting, I say the consistency of milk... Apply paint in multiple layers, I try painting in 6-8 layers... smile.gif

biggrin.gif bro, Mr. Super Clear is lacquer based top coat right?? and
it doesn't effect acrylic paint underneath it, right??  hmm.gif
that's all..  thumbup.gif

sorry for a newbie question. cause i experimented acrylic paint on plastic spoon and top coat it with Mr. Super Clear. and surprisingly, i can easily wipe out the whole paint..
TQ!! icon_rolleyes.gif
*
you didn't do primer/undercoat. And allow the paint to cure, usually 24hrs..

I saw my tank... biggrin.gif

If you want a matte finish, you can always use clear flat top coat to "kill" the glossiness.
Prime your kit first boss, metal bug kit plastic is not really that good.. sweat.gif

Prime = primer paint so your base paint will have something to adhere to.
If you straight away paint dark grey to the kit, your paint will chip easily.
So you need three, primer (usually comes in grey/white) + based ( ur dark grey and pink)

Cut all part coz you need to assembly it first so you have the feel on how each parts goes with the kit.
If necessary, sand/file the parts that needs to be sanded. Remember, plastic quality is not really good.
Leave the tire tracks of the tank uncut. This part you can paint first before cutting. It's easier this way. biggrin.gif

how much for one? tongue.gif

Tamiya / Mr Color got small cans but that's just expensive.
Me on a budget + too cheap + too poor to buy this spray paint.. sweat.gif

I use Nippon Pylox / Anchor. Around Rm7.00

also not sure how much tamiya/mr colour is. But i bought last time tamiya flat coat, same size around RM45. Estimate the price from that... sweat.gif

The results will depend on your painting skills... tongue.gif

when there is dripping / bulging on the paint. When the reflection of the light on the paint is uneven, it usually tell the paint is too thick. Two to three pass of thin coat paint will do.

Mr. Surface = primer. Do primer before painting whatever color you want to apply.

primer = the base paint?
*
It depends on your definition of base paint. If your definition of "base" is the first coating of paint you apply before
applying anything then that is base paint.
There is also based paint define as the paint color to help define the opacity of the second coat of paint your going to use. For example, your applying yellow and you want it to be brighter yellow, apply white based paint otherwise it will turn dull if your first coating of paint is dark.

To cut the story short, and not to confused you anymore tongue.gif , look for the label "primer" on the paint... tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hi,

I bought Krylon white gloss primer (for plastic) and Krylon Gloss White sprays from ACE HARDWARE. Unfortunately after applying and leaving for a week to cure, I still cannot get that insane white gloss. Is there something I need to apply?

One more thing i noticed is that there will be an embedded line on the painted surface if my fingernails run through it. Why is this result?
*
you mean the paint doesn't dry/cure after a week? It seems this is the case.. hmm.gif

It seems like you've over sprayed it, so when the paint dried it turns into rubbery effect.
I suggest u make some testing first. Get some plastic spoon and try the paint on that (primer and white gloss) but this time just apply thin layer and see what happen.

Rubbery effect? Yea...that is another way to describe the situation. So would this dry and harden or its rubbery all the way?

Worse subsequent scenario would be to sand away the whole part and respray again...OMG!
*
I will be like that all the way. You have no option but to remove the old paint and re-paint.
But do my suggestion first, try on plastic spoon or any thing you can find. It may be the paint or it may be your method.
Try eliminating first the possible scenario.

Ok, have to buy another spray can...maybe im thinking of using the RUSTOLEUM brand which is offered in ACE HARDWARE too.

If I spray too close, it may be too think or leading to overflow effect (and that rubbery effect).

If I spray too far, I get rough surface.

What is your ideal spray distance?
*
between too close and too far.. brows.gif
seriously, you need to make some testing/hands-on to find this out. practice makes perfect.. tongue.gif
