Your topcoat will have to be a (laquer)gloss base first if you planning to use enamel paint. This is because it will minimise the "bumps" at the surface, protect your paint surface and help with the capilary action of the enamel paint.

After that, you can either finish up with gloss or flat coat to your preference biggrin.gif .

Hi guys,

I just got a Tamiya X-11 Paint Marker (Silver Chrome). Just wondering how long does it take for it to be completely dry?

I used it to paint a small part of my model kit..after a few hours it feel dry..but if I press it harder I can see my fingerprint on the paint lol..

Also, is there any guide on how to paint nicely using this marker? I'm using it to paint small parts but it usually comes out alot >.<

Thanks!

hi, i was snooping around FB and found some customization pics that claim usage of H.I.P.S. (i googled it and i think it's high impact polystyrene (plastic) sheet or something)
any idea how the material is like? of course google images will not help much tongue.gif seeing it is not quite like feeling it in hand.. if the material really is acceptable for customizing, where can i find some? laugh.gif

it's like pla plate. it comes in white gray color. I'm not sure if it comes in different color. It's cheaper than pla plate and I bought mine outside malaysia by the meter. Can't remember the exact width but I payed around rm3 after conversion. Easy to sand and cut but if you apply to much pressure it will break easily. I used it to model wolverine claws. It was introduced to me by a college buddy of mine. He's been using it on his gundam customs. He just won first prize last year on GBWC 2011 Philippine open so my best guess is it can work for customs.. but I'm not really sure though.. tongue.gif

Also got a question to ask the regulars here...

I've got a 7-11 GFT kit that I picked up earlier, am thinking of paintng it, but the decals are stickers. Is it possible to scan the whole sheet and print them out again as waterslides? If so, mana boleh buat?
Thanks.

This is enamel paint which can be mixed with enamel thinner to drop on the line to create panel lining. The excess can be clean by enamel thinner which will not affect the lacquer paint underneath.

well, i think if oyu're good at photoshop, should be doable i guess. just need decal paper and you should be good to go! i know some people who design their own decals too.. you might wanna look up vasthobbies for that.
