Some support Liverpool not for trophies (otherwise Liverpool won't have many supporters left to begin with), I personally like the camaraderie between the players, manager and fans. Sure, you can call me an old fashioned idealist, but that was exactly what made me a Liverpool supporter in the first place. i think rafa should have known better when he decided to sign certain players.

so when he signs Glenny, he knows he will have an attacking fullback, that will suit his vision about how he will deploy liverpool's tactics

which means he should be aware we might suffer defensively at times

his tactic is clear - on the flanks, the 'winger' and the attacking fullback will help to cover each other. a combo that works well when we have kuyt on the flank. he tracks and runs. and this season we rarely have problem with that side because wa have the awesome kuyt

With regards to this weekend's game against Chelsea, this I feel will be a serious blow to our confidence. It was our only chance for silverware and although we do have a slim chance to finish 4th, the lads know that it is unlikely and may feel like we've nothing left to play for. I for one feel pretty deflated and can't even begin to imagine how the lads must feel.

I nearly kicked my car seat when the radio announcer said that Liverpool LOST 2-1 and were kicked out of the Europa League. He also mentioned that Fulham has a REAL GOOD CHANCE to qualify for the final after their victory.

Back to the game : I was disappointed to see Gerrard sit back, dazzled and looking lost after Forlan got the all so important goal. He should have at least urged his team on, something that Aquilani was doing all night long. I know that goal was a massive blow to us, but as a captain myself.. I think Gerrard should have urged the players and fans on like he'd usually do.

On the brighter note, I couldn't help but smile to myself about Aquilani's performance. Speedy, good touches, awesome 1-touch football, good switch passes, nice through balls, and ran at defenders a lot. Really impressive. Bet all those critiques are sucking their own balls right now.

Well any fullback will definitely struggle when played in the other flank. And it wasn't as if he was having a nightmare last night. He was just quiet and misplacing passes. I found it quite surprising that Atleti kept targeting the left flank where Masch did a really good job - save for allowing Forlan free - where they could have made Johnson sweat.

I've said it before, our priority this summer should be a LB and a defensive RB cover (Even better if this player can play on both sides, ala Arbeloa). Then we start talking about Torres backup. Last night showed how thin our squad is, our bench was a joke.

Agreed. I at times feel that Johnson takes stuff a little too easy. He doesn't have the urgency of Carragher, Agger etc. But he's one composed player. Just has to keep his head in the game...

I don't think he has realized his potential fully, at the moment it's almost 50-50 for him. One moment he makes a brilliant pass the other he gives away the ball cheaply. Probably due to rust, who knows.

One thing I realized last night was that Gerrard seems to play better in the PL recently, could it be the presence of Maxi? If you think about it, a lot of Maxi's moves involves Gerrard charging into the box. He's brilliant in linking up with players, I think that's what sorely missed last night.

Once again, my wish all season is to see what a team of Benny, Aqua, Maxi and Gerrard could do. Never mind if it's Kuyt or N'gog leading the line. Can we see that this Sunday, Rafa?

But but, this whole season along, Liv performance is not that good along. If based on away match peformance, then it is a bottom half team record.
I and most supporters have no problem with Liv can't win a single competition or even can't get 4th place. But what we want to see is the team performance which should be much much better what currently show.

The Europa cup was loss at the first leg when Liv can't score an away goal.

Btw, Fulham played with more spirit and determination which is seriously lacking for Liv.
