[OFFTOPIC]--but since i dont want to open new thread to discuss it, why not i post it here.....

@ Antonio

Based on ur request, i did a test of how well Cool n Quiet live up to its name..
There is no doubt a myth that circulates around all of us that, if we enabled this thingy, we r in for shocking performance reduction contrary to what AMD64 specs has mentioned.

The test consist of SuperPi 1M, Sandra FPU, 3dmark series and real gaming performance monitored by FRAPS..

What i found is a relieve to those who have a system with CnQ on..There is no performance reduction in all of those test..So u guys out there, jus think AMD would never construct these kind of tech if its useless or suffer from performance degradation..

And some sifu at XS always advice to shut off CnQ during Ocing, but to my surprise, my system works flawlessly with CnQ enabled.as long as HTT doesnt exceed 280HTT..

But there is one thing u need to take into account..Undervolting may occured to u as it did to me when using CnQ..

Say for example :
1.75 vcore setup in bios with CnQ enabled will result in 1.62
1.75 vcore setup in BIOS without CnQ = 1.68-1.71

Undervolting such as above did happen to me..I dont know whether it will happen to you,

With that in mind, if u have a stable system running at 1.7vcore
u will have problem, becos Neo2 only permits max setting of 1.75vcore on std board without tweaK and mods..but if u can stabilise ur system with a lower vcore, CnQ is for u..

ps: Since my main rig is testing new btd43, i dont have screenies to share....

gengstapo, what type of amd64 are u using? winchester or the caa2c clawhammer ?

if that caa2c, it is well known as a hot processor.. even people at XS with wc also quite disappointed with its heat consumption

i totally agree! just look at my screenies few pages back. CnQ works fine when overclocking but it could also depend on your mobo(?)

anyway, i think it's a good way of preserving your cpu's life.

btw, thanx for the heads up on the max workable HTT!

this my 1st OC actually.

will changing the stock cooling to XP-90 give me more headroom?

how does it work?

1) better cooling > lower temps (same vcore) = better OC

or

2) better cooling > lower temps (more vcore) = better OC

what do you think/know?

i pick no 1...and no 2 for some other situation..
but what actually happen all the time is no1..
try reduce 5 degrees or more maybe u can gain 50 Mhz..
for case no 2, if u have proper cooling u can increase vcore
to some extreme value to stabilise unstable clock speed...

Ambient and Casing temps?

Seriously, I'm using Freezer64 as well with a Winnie. I don't even get that kinda temps at 1.76vcore sweat.gif

Right now...am running at 30C with CnQ on...Load 39C @2.2Ghz.

Ambient temps = 27C

Try taking out ur casing...put it on the table in open space and test again.

It seems HIGHLY likely it's because of the confined environment/ poor air circulation that ur rig is on.
