QUOTE(senbonzakura @ Jun 1 2010, 02:23 PM) thanks. =) thanks =) actually the reason i want the 17" is because of the screen's resolution and its size. so have to compromise a bit lorr. the thing weighs abt 2.9kg but i dont plan to move it about much unless i really have to so it should be ok. really excited to get it. waiting is a pain though. aiks when u posted earlier you said 15inch, which is it 15 or 17?

QUOTE(Eithanius @ Jun 1 2010, 08:53 PM) Ok go for 15inch i7, upgrade to high resolution display and the 500gb HDD to 7200rpm. It'll cost you RM7689 vs MBP 17 with i7, 500GB hdd 7200RPM = RM8315 price difference is = RM626 for 1 additional USB port, pcie slot, bigger screen, heavier laptop. You decide if its worth it or not

17" is really heavy when you travel alot. Consider that instead of the spec. I think both 15" & 17" will perform rather well as a laptop. And please include ACPP into your budget by any means.

And I've yet to see how good is a HR 15" screen compared to a normal res 15"...

Guess what !!!
*&#$@ ... I returned my MBP for a replacement because it came with a dead pixel. Now the replacement comes with a dead pixel as well.
Now I have to call Apple Care again tmrw. And I'll have to wait while this unit goes all the way back to China and another unit gets shipped to me. The last time this happens, it took 19 days. @#*&$

Hehehe, i would get a 17" for occasional travel + a low end 13" for daily travel, or even an iPad if it get the job done. Even 15" is heavy for amount of stuff I have to carry around. But then again, that's me. One can always disagree. Just aim at what you really need, not want. Laptop get replaced much faster than the desktop. I don't really see the point to invest too much. Unless you keeping for the next 3-4 yrs or don't mind about resell.

In windows, we can terminate a 'hanged' application by accessing the task manager via ctrl+ALT+DEL or ALT+F4 .... how do you do that in MBP?
I installed Windows Live Messenger for Mac and it 'hanged' !!

I've been using a Mac Pro for 3 years.... Two Mac Pros in fact... And I've no complain about performance, let alone keeping it for years to come.. The only reason I go portable is because of the shifting in direction of distributive computing from CPU to GPU, and Apple's somewhat PITA about Mac Pro GPUs, plus those crappy drivers and lack-lustre OpenCL implementation - might as well salvage whatever I have thanks to my ACPP on the first Mac Pro, sell it off to build a cheap PC with high-end GPU for that...
