Fo those who are involved in the LUMAPOWER D-MINI VX ULTRA SST-50 GB by old newspaper, is there anyone who wants to let go your flashlight.  smile.gif  I absolutely love it and I am looking for another and I have the following lights to exchange with you.

user posted image

1)TLS-T2( new) + nitecore EZ CR2 (new)
2) Surefire C2(new, unopened) + minimag (no box)
3) Surefire E2DL (used, no box)
4) Nitecore SR3 (new) + EZ CR2 (new)

You can choose any of the above, either 1 or 2 or 3 or 4.
James, I agree with you ... this light is tha rocket!! Had Lumapower not come out with the Turbo Force (available soon) for the Ultra, I'd have jumped on your offer #2 in a heartbeat. But let's wait and see. You never know smile.gif

Dang! Another light to check out.

I am also looking for another compact hi-powered light (above 500 lumens). What do you guys think between the Lumapower vs Thrunite Catapult? Both using SST-50.
The D-Mini VX Ultra is smaller than the Thrunite Catapult, even with its 18650 tube and even more compact with its 123 tube. D-Mini does pack a punch in brightness for its size but good fo a short time, it has a wider beam and does not throw as well as the catapult. The catapult is brighter though.

GW2U will be bringing in Lumapower lights soon biggrin.gif

Hi,
cry.gif My favorite light - 2 year old Fenix TK10 (OP) showed signs of "burned" mark at the center of the LED. Now it has an ugly brownish donut hue. My normal usage is 10-15 mins max set at normal mode, never on high for over 5 mins. I've been very careful and used only Soshine RCR-123. I thought TK10 has a regulated circuit to prevent overheating.  Any one has experienced this before?
Can any sifus help me to repair/replace the Q5 LED or anywhere to get a replacement head????
Too sayang this light. TQ in advance!

Hey moxie, this is not a battery problem. The TK10 can easily accept any li-ion. If 2 x 3.7V Li-ion's voltage is too high, the light will be insanely bright (for a while) then instant death.
5 mins on high should not even be close to an issue unless the light is already hot to begin with.
This is definitely a problem with the thermal transfer of the LED.
You can ask CEJ what to do about it or look for gadgetworld2U. Beg them to help you. Heh~

1st it was my P3D, then Pseudoblue's TK40 (?), now its yours TK10  rclxub.gif

Anyway, I don't know fenix has thermal sensor to cut over heating, I guess no. NovaTac has it, it I am correct.

PS : Soshine RCR123 is working at 3.6V , so it is 20% higher than the primary 3V; while LifePO4 is around 3.35V , about 10% higher.

So be careful on this, most of Fenix is design to use Primary only (sigh  mad.gif )
Opening the Fenix head is very hard, use a hair dryer or coffee make warming pad to heat up the head, then use an antislip mat (those use in car) to open the head.

Search for my post in V1 or V2, I did explain how I end up a Warm LED in the P3D. icon_rolleyes.gif

I found a pic and yes the VX Ultra is quite a bit smaller than the Catapult. It's really a pocket rocket.

The Catapult performs really well on 2x 18650, but that would make it even longer and even less compact compared to the VX Ultra. Yeah, I know the Catapult is more of a thrower. Hmm... any of you guys around PJ area? Wouldn't mind meeting up to check out the VX Ultra.

Yep, I've thought about the instant bright light of death. But this never happen in my case. Possible thermal contact thingy, did not dissipate the heat fast enough.
Valuable inputs from susuman and pseudoblue, TQ. I may now just open the head for further investigation. May check with CEJ, and see if any of her customer experienced this on their TK10.

How's TK12, anyone? icon_rolleyes.gif

Fenix TK45 Global Testing Campaign

guys/gals, here is a chance to try out the new Fenix TK45... 760 lumens... triple XP-G... drool.gif

==
QUOTE
In order to meet the versatile demands of different customers for outdoor lighting, Fenix has successfully developed the latest model - TK45, and it will be launched soon. With the hope of enhancing the quality of its products and service, we are collecting consumers and flashlight enthusiasts to participate in Fenix TK45 Global testing Campaign. Fenix will select some participants to test the TK45 (early sample) which will be sent you for free. We are looking forward to your participation and support.

1. Brief Introduction of TK45
Fenix TK45 features three lighting heads with its appearance just like a machine gun. It throws max 760 lumens output by utilizing three pcs of Cree XP-5 R5 LED, which is much brighter than a 10W HID light, and comparable to a car headlight, all these made TK45 a miracle in medium sized flashlights.
TK45 is powered by 8 AA batteries to offer four levels of brightness and three flashing modes, with max 232 hours runtime and easy operation of the sidewinder dual switch system; TK45 is your best option for outdoor searching, caving, off-road trailing, etc.

Yeap, it's the H501w (neutral white), the neutral tint is awesome on this XRE LED nod.gif thumbup.gif It's a pure flood light, excellent at close range, works great in our last trail. It's also one of my overnight lamp brows.gif The light is fully regulated and it seems to protect NiMH batts, it will blink or strobe to tell you the battery is low and then switches off. It won't turn on again, until you change or let the battery voltage rebound.

Oh? Where did you read this?

I am actually kinda hoping for a H51.
Don't know if they're gonna produce this or not since the H501 is relatively new.
The H31 uses the XPG.

And since the SC50 and use 14500s, i hope if they ever produce the H51, it can too.

user posted image I'm not sure there's a positive in this. It was always good to hear discussion about prototypes and what to expect out of it. Looks like David kinda finally draw the line on this one.

Strinq, let me quote it here and for everyone as well. Probably the last we'll know about it until final release. I do require some clarifications about 17670 hmm.gif

s1800 is very close. we just completed a successful test production run of 100pcs.

g500's are very close as well. they're already in production. but we're not releasing anything until we have a ship date.

s1200 will take some time as we just added some more features. a custom charger is in the works as well.

Yes. VERY friendly. We have pending patent(s) on accomodating the 18650.

s1800 takes 6xcr123a. If you need a rechargable 18650 solution which makes it bulkier, check out the olight sr90. The s18 does take 6xrcr123 but it doesn't run that long on max mode. 3x17670 doesn't work because it's a buck circuit inside - I haven't tried it yet though but theoretically it should DD the LED.

------------
Jens a 3x18650 will be considered in the future but no plans yet. 18650's will make the body thicker. Also, runtimes will be shorter. The primary light market is much bigger than the rechargables. We need to get out of the red before we start diversifying the line - Let's walk before we run.

Sorry I meant buck circuit. Yes in parallel, so fresh batteries are needed each time. We're getting packs wrapped in series so they can be easily reloaded by popping in three pairs

------------
"We HAVE achieved 2000 lumens with the s12 package with our prototypes"
