804 SD is to promote and its business nothing to brag on FB anyway. the question remains where and when are the rest of the hd channels coming ? 6 sports channels ? I think . IN HOUSE channels should not be confused with exclusive content channels . This post has been edited by smileguy: Apr 10 2010, 10:32 AM

Astro will probably not release new HD channels before world cup... but expect it after the world cup is over... maybe HD channels like Dicovery,AXN,maybe cinemax HD, or RIA HD just be cool for now.. and let the world cup fever takes over

Hi,
I'm about to upgrade to Astro Beyond mainly for the Worldcup. I have some question and hope you sifu here can share some experience/advice:
1. those 5 channels will be in 16:9 display through HDMI, but what happen to others since the source will be in 4:3 ? Stretch and force to 16:9 and become "fat & short"?
2. if this happen, is there any method we can setup on the Beyond decoder to auto-zoom those 4:3 channels and fit into 16:9 by keeping the aspect ratio ?
3. I was told that those non-HD channels image quality is better than the existing decoder, is it truth?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance! there is controls for the SD video out put. aspect ratio controlsthere was a zoom option but it was replaced with the fit to screen. I think we will bring back the zoom option in the future as a 3rd option but currently the box only can do 2 settings. Therefore use your TV to zoom if you can or watch it in Pillar box, this is how it is meant to be seen.

Why Astro want to "remove" the zoom option from the decoder which suppose to enrich viewing experience? How many of us like to watch distorted "FatFat-Shortshort" TV?? If we still have to use TV remote control to zoom in & out between channels, it would be very troublesome for us... Imagine, after paying extra, both hands need to hold 2 remote controls.... I guess no more beer & peanuts to enjoy anymore ..... Added on April 10, 2010, 10:21 pmHi TallJustin, You said "....we will bring back the zoom option..." Are you working with Astro? Or you know some trick to enable the decoder to bring back zoom option ? Mind to share how ? This post has been edited by klseet: Apr 10 2010, 10:21 PM
