Lets do a poll on whether Discovery HD
Available or not..
Since a lot of people have now seen the advertisment but mainly on Animal Planet
n the fact that Astro sign agreement with Discovery
But only to show Discovery World HD in India
Logic would say Astro should show first in Malaysia before letting people get it first

So choose:

A - YES..DISCOVERY HD WILL BE AVAILABLE ON 1st April 2010

B - NO..WE WILL BE APRIL FOOLED LIKE THE ANIMAL ON ANIMAL PLANET

C - DISCOVERY HD WILL BE AVAILABLE AT A LATER DATE

D - NO MORE HD CHANNELS FOR A FEW MONTHS COZ ASTRO WANT TO COLLECT MONEY FOR BYOND STARTING THIS MONTH

Nope bro..World Cup Channels arent considered channels eventhough its HD
It will just be temporary channels for during the World Cup
Astro promised 10 HD channels at the end of 2010
World Cup HD channels dont count

I love SKY's channels especially all their Sports channel and production..
They are tops in producing sport content..
But cant see Astro taking them in..if they even bought in SKY News and Sky Sports News I would be happy..

Why astro dont want to improve and make themselves the best in Asia and at least cover half of the channels that Direct Tv has
At least make ur self better than Indovision for a start

dont tell me we have to look at population of countries to have a decent choice of channels
I mean..there doesnt need to be that same amount of channel
But at least get the best channels in regardless of whether they listen to u astro..

If 380 EPL matches LIVE from August, Astro will repackage Sports Package?
Or add temporary channels?
Means on the day of matches there will be extra channels like they do with World Cup and Olympics
Only accessible when there are matches at the same time..
No need to open up channels for specific club

Lets say Blackburn have one channel
n lets say Stoke City have one..
When they play each other, there will be 2 channels same match
Membazir
So no need specific channels for club
Just open temporary channels on matchdays

But as happened and reported for World Cup2006 and Euro 2008, Singapore couldnt watch RTM when matches were on
The signal was scrambled and they lose the feed while the match was on
It has to do with FIFA rights..
But Singapore will get to watch the World Cup
Their Pay TV operator is in negotiations with FIFA

RTM will show only 21 matches LIVE
15 will be on delayed
Astro show all 64 matches LIVE in both HD and SD
The World Cup is available on the sports package
Highlights on day to day programmes will be on Astro Arena
Last World Cup they had it on RIA
Now with it's moved to ARENA

Astro are currently promoting Byond by noting all 64 matches are LIVE in HD
My guess is new HD channels will only launch after World Cup ends to pull in more new subscribers
Important to note though that the number of HD channles available for World Cup does not count as the 10 HD channels promised this year
World Cup HD channels are temporary
The 10 HD channels are actually permanent channels like the ones already available
